These are the oldest things I have. They are Egyptian Campaign medals awarded to my great-great-grandfather who was a Trooper in the 2nd Regiment Life Guards. He was involved in the cavalry charge at the Battle of Kassassin in 1882.

I have similar Alan, though I think mine is a little newer (these have been discussed on here before). Calculator was my father's, he was an accountant, finishing up before early retirement as Finance Director for the southwest area of a national brewery.
I also have his circular (or tubular) slide rule.
Both with original instructions and boxes. I still trying to find his first Yard-o-Lead propelling pencil, still with box, but have an awful feeling it may have gone when we had a break-in a few years ago. I still have his second one.
Lovely medals Alan!

You're right, Graham ... discussed only last year! I'd clean forgotten.

No, been in its frame since I got it. It was my Mums and she had it for yonks, though I dont know where she got it. I did look at getting it assessed but didnt find anyone online search I thought was suitable.

I love old stuff ..... have loads of it lying about the house .... my Dad was a big collector of curiosities and it rubbed off on me! .... here's some random ones ....

Oldest man made things (trained as a geologist so have the odd fossil or six hanging about) ..... some arrowheads picked up by my Dad off Kinder Scout in Derbyshire (he worked for the National Park and spent years hoofing about up there)

A Roman glass bottle .... for something expensive by the size of it .... medical or cosmetic probably.....collected by my Dad back when I was a kid.

A Braille engineer's micrometer .... old pal of mine worked as a machinist for an Engineers in Rushden .... one of the other engineers went to WW2 and came home blinded ... the firm wouldn't let him go and he adapted and was still doing lathe work until he retired ..... the micrometer was going to be skipped but Dave rescued it for me because he knew it would appeal .... over the years I've tried to get it to a blind machinist via various organisations but no takers .... guess if there are any still out there they have digital micrometers with audio output.
