Anyone who can help, so the Zundapp Bella is now at home, purchased from an Auction "Blind"
i now find the Scooter is not registered and doesn't have a Log Book ( Registration Doc)

The seller seems to be unwilling to talk to me so i think he has thrown the towel in after completing the restoration
to about 98%.

I have a Certificate from the Vintage Bike Club that suggests the Engine & Chassis numbers Match and the Scooter
authenticity, i have a spoken to the Secretary of the VMCC who suggests i need to obtain a NOVA Number from Customs
then with that apply to DVLA through a V55/5 form to receive a registration.

However the reading of the DVLA site seem to point towards bringing a vehicle in from abroad, i would think because the Scooter
is fitted with a MPH milometer it could already of been a UK import many years ago (it is 55 years old)

DVLA do not specify on their web anything regarding old vehicles more to imported vehicles and i certainly cant find anything
relating to old bikes.

CAN ANYONE HERE THROW ME A LIFE LINE, AS ANYONE EXPERIENCED AND WENT THROUGH THIS PREVIOUSLY

Best
Dean.

If it's previously had a plate, then a new log book is easy to get. You may be able to get one from the chassis number.

I had an ex MOD Armstrong MT500 that I had to regsiter for the first time. If I remember, I had to get a dating certificate from the MT owners club, then get it insured and MOT'd (you can do both just on the chassis number). I then had to take all the forms (I'll try and find which one) to the local DVLA office (lucklily Northampton). After submission, I was then request to take the bike itself to the DVLA office where they inspected it to make sure it was kosher. Eventually I got a registration number for it.

This might be nearer the mark:
Registering an Old Vehicle

I'm assuming that you don't have an original registration number with the bike. In which case read on.

Get certification from a recognised body, i.e. the Vintage Bike Club, Zundapp owners club or whatever, that confirms the frame/engine details and the date of manufacture.

Attach that with the V55/5 and you should be ok. I'd also submit pictures of the frame and engine numbers and a couple of views of the bike.

The V55/5 is totally unfit for purpose when it comes to registering Historic vehicles and there is almost no information on the DVLA website as you've probably found out already.

My nephew has recently registered an Historic motorcycle in this manner and had no problems.

You only need a NOVA if you've imported the bike, in which case you'll need to provide a lot more information. I wouldn't go there.

Talk Morgan member David_E has just gone through a similar exercise. I would suggest you send him a PM.

Looking at the form V55/5, that was the one I used, complete with a dating certificate from the owners club.

I've just registered an Historic Car a few weeks ago. It did have some import documentation dated 1991 (pre NOVA).

The process was painless and they didn't ask to view the car.

The V55/5 and accompanying notes don't give enough information regarding the attachments to submit. Hence my advice to send a dating certificate and relevant pictures.

Not quite the same issue but I had an interesting experience with the Royal Enfield Bullet I bought almost a year ago. Three weeks ago I booked it in for its first service and thought I should write all the particulars into my service book in readiness. I couldn’t find the registration document anywhere. So I went onto the DVLA site and entered my reg number to find that it wasn’t recognised!
Contacted the dealer who very embarrassed told me that they had forgotten to register it😳. So I’ve been riding it illegally for nearly a year and presumably with invalid insurance. The DVLA refused to issue the number or any other 69 plate but treated the bike as new so I now own a 12 month old bike that’s first registered in September 2020 and sports a 70 plate! I wonder if I can call it a new bike and therefore effectively get another years warranty?

Jays ... makes you wonder where the dealer conjoured the reg number up from .... or are they assigned a block of numbers and forgot to link that one with that particular bike with the DVLA?
