Could work out why I have to keep touching up the same chip on my car.

Touched up again, been around the block for a blast only to find its back again.

It’s the lower front edge of the bonnet hitting the edge of the cowl.

The bonnet isn’t sliding forward so the nose of the car must be moving to such a degree whereby the chassis must be allowing such movement.

Anyone else get this, I’ve never had it on any of my 4 Plus 8’s before.

I had a similar problem Lee, but at the rear of the bonnet.

On examination I found there was a high spot/blob of weld on the underside of the rolled edge. I smoothed it out with a file, and the problem didn't reappear after that.

We have that problem on my Dads roadster, it is cause by movement in the bonnet hinge allowing the bonnet to move forward

I thought that but I can’t get the bonnet to move at all.

Assuming it is a Trad Plus 8, do you have brake reaction bars?
If not, they are worth considering as they brace the top of the X frame to the chassis and in so doing make the complete front end stiffer.
Also check the rear hinge mount is secure, it screws into wood and the wood screws can back off: the screws can also be the source of leaks behind the dash....

Yes Peter. All right at the back. Yes it’s a Trad.

Not sure on the bar. It’s a 2000 Plus 8. Assume brace bar not std?

Turn the wheel onto full lock either way and look behind the rear of the front wheel that faces out. If you have the stay shown below you have the optional brake reaction bars.

If not they are readily available and highy recommended.
