Sad to see that a woman has died having had a second infection of C19, rather putting paid to the 'herd immunity' idea.

Sad but she was 89 and undergoing chemo which lowers your immunity level to just about everything so hardly a benchmark.

The press reports a 25 year old in the US with a second infection being worse than the first and hospitalising him.

They also said that Trump has been given a $90k experimental treatment.

If that's true at that age it would be a concern, the trouble right now is everyone is running around like headless chickens grabbing random bits of news and you can't trust any of it.
I hope the Dignitas works on him grin2 It'll save the IRS an awful lot of legwork..

In both cases the infection was a different strain of the virus. I recall a report that the Italian strain of the virus was slightly different to the original sample that had been provided from China.

Just as an aside: there are vague indications that a SARS type virus was circulating in the Bergamo area as early as November. Since it was not identified at the time it is now difficult to understand if it was a strain of Covid19.

It would be interesting to know if doctors in other parts of the world had observed an unusual outbreak of respiratory infections.

The American guy had virtually no symptoms first time and only needed minor intervention second time .... the Lady got it first time while having chemo and second time while having a second course of chemo .... she was 89 with underlying health problems and not well ..... we're talking a handful of cases at most in 37 million infections so far .... the natural world is fraught with statistical anomolies and researchers all over the world are focussing on this .... I'll worry when, say, 1 in 20 prove to get reinfected .... an outlier doesn't indicate for the mass ... pending further evidence I'm filing this along with the 1 in 100 million that have such a crushing allergy that touching something that also touched a drop of milk results in death .... yep, it happens but, devastating as it is to the individual, you wouldn't rearrange your life round it.

We should see where it goes as we learn more

I've signed, as a professional scientist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Great Barrington Declaration.

More here:
https://gbdeclaration.org/

If you have a view or opinion on covid you should read it.

The politicians are causing panic amongst to populations of the world. The media are distorting statistics and the science is inconclusive. We are doing more damage trying to protect people than the damage the illness causes.

One example: Northumberland University reported on Friday 2 October of 770 student cases covered the cumulative number of self-reported positive cases between 17 September and 1 October at our Newcastle campuses.
Of those 770 only 10 reported any symptoms at all, and none require medical intervention. But everyone is locked down for 2 or more weeks. Why? What will this really achieve?

Covid is not going away any time soon, we cannot hide, but have to face it and live with it, as we do with influenza.
My position is that everyone must take personal responsibility, use good hygiene control, and get on with life.
