Managed to brim my tank full last weekend, gauge showed 3/4! My 4/4 is the same - there are many Morgans of a certain age which are similar.

I generally fuel up using the tripometer as a guide ~ 250 miles or so, rather than the fuel gauge. To be honest not many of the gauges are to be relied upon. Well, it is a Morgan after all.....

Did this start happening after you had filled the fuel tank? If it did had you filled the tank to first click of the pump or did you go beyond and kept filling through a number of clicks? If all this is the case then the float arm could be stuck in the up position, try giving the fuel tank a good shake when the fuel level is around half empty (as best you can estimate) It could have happened when i topped up the tank but with a extended range tank l usually stop before any "click". No need to give the tank a good shake the roads in my area do a very good job at this. It looks as if l do need to remove the float from the tank l would need to remove the tank first as there is very little head room to the ash frame.

Think I may have a sender problem there My +8 has always done that, the 4/4 sticks on full till nearly half tank is used and the M3W tells you whatever it is feeling at the time none of it accurate.

No problems with the electricial connections so l guess it must be a float/sender problem. Looks like a big job to remove the tank especially in my tight garage so I'll top the tank up then rely on the trip counter to warn me when its getting low

Most owners rely on the trip miles, even when they have a working gauge as it's less risky
