OK, so it's not about a Morgan, but it is built of wood.

I was very tickled by the Freudian slip in the intro to this feature in Classic Boat on Ted Heath's old boat Morning Cloud II....

Is that right? He won the Sidney Hobart on Morning Cloud which was a GRP Sparkman and Stevens boat and not as wooden boat as pictured.

He wasn’t PM when he won the Sydney Hobart in 1969 (which as you rightly point out was a GRP S&S 34). The reference is to the 1971 Admirals Cup; Morning Cloud II was one of the 3 yachts in the victorious British team.

As I think I've already pointed out on TM, the motto of the French Navy is "A l'eau, c'est l'heure"

IIRC my brother & I were crossing Breydon Water in a GRP motorboat on a family holiday, frightening waves & my uncle almost rolled it in the wind & wake of a commercial vessel overtaking us, weather was awful

The following day we heard of the demise of Morning Cloud, & I think two crew, very sad

There were ( or maybe still are ) a couple of GRP SS 34's in hire on the Broads. They had a shallower draft with slightly shorter masts to suit the conditions. A beautiful design with a very pleasing sheer line.

Here for a good time not a long time!!
