From instagram: "The lights go green ... again" ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50509463128_514d77dc74_b.jpg) Vanwall announce its plans to build six new Vanwall 1958 Continuation Cars to celebrate Vanwall’s six Formula One wins in 1958. Only five of the new Continuation cars will be offerd for private sale, with the sixth car forming the core of a Vanwall Historic Racing Team. Each vehicle will be painstakingly built over thousands of hours by historic racing and vehicle restoration experts, and will feature the powerful 270 bhp 2,489 cc Vanwall engine. Meticulously engineered using original drawings and blueprints from the 1950s, with a chassis designed by Colin Chapman and aerodynamics by Frank Costin. Check out www.vanwallgroup.com

I'm not a friend of these replicas, there are now a number of companies that do that. They take away the special from the real, surviving classic cars.

Stunning but no runs at Goodwood if Lord March applies the same rules as he has for Jaguar.

Jens .... +1 .... I find this whole 're-creation' business a pointless exercise in trashing your own heritage for cash .... prospective buyers should put their money into saving and restoring a deserving genuine classic.
Great though the original may have been (and Vanwall was an iconic name for me in my formative petrolhead years) this does nothing for me .

I agree, it's only special once don't trash the fantastic memories and for 1.6 million quid you can drive it nowhere like the rerun Jaguar lightweights pretty pointless.

Milking machines. Good for keeping skilled engineers in work but a little disingenuous for cynical me.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I can't help feeling it will be another "here today, gone tomorrow".

We all drive Morgans which is a reproduction of sorts if we had a few zeros on the end of our savings would we drive the same cars, probably not if were honest so there is a place for a repro vanwall or Jag.

Not a problem for me. It is the only way 99.9% of us could afford a “dream car”. Em, remember our visit to Racinggreen? A replica Alpha was made by them for the owner of an original car. Why? The original was so expensive it couldn’t be taken out on the road. Hence a replica so he could drive “it”. I could never own a car that I couldn’t drive. As for the Vanwall, I seem to remember replicas available a few years ago. Circa £150k for a turnkey version but kit form too. Not a continuation as such. Just a replica. If you are a genuine car is the only way person then is it like apiece of art? Huge cost for something to look at. It’s a CAR! Cars are for driving! I can understand individual cars with great heritage being museum pieces but they are a rarity in my view. TOK? Would you buy a continuation?

Doesn't really bother me as they are really toys for the rich.
