£638 in 1956 would be roughly £16,000 today.

That would be the correct price

Might be amusing to find out on here who's the youngest Morgan owner/driver we have (not me at 68 that's for sure!!) ..... if you're under 50 post your age and we'll see where it ends up

I suspect that had you used the term disposable income in 1956 folk would have looked at you as if you came from another planet, likewise access to getting into debt up to one`s ears and beyond at that time would have been the last thought on almost anybody`s mind, more likely to be thinking themselves fortunate to have survived the war, rationing and much else..? Those who are debt averse would know how long it took to pay back the UK`s indebtedness to our American cousins for WWII..!!!

Of course us baby boomers are ripe for rip off, and have been since use of the credit card was swallowed whole by the majority of the population and the financial services industry ran wild paying bonuses from the top down to encourage the nation to get into ever more debt...Hmm..?

Seems baby boomers forgot the hard times, well those who were not fortunate enough to have never gone even mildly cold or hungry despite their parents best efforts..? Recent examples typed of on here were if you want to buy a Harley, you have to buy it with all these extras to increase company profits...Total cost..? Matters not a jot, how much is it a month, as with all else, creative accounting combined with a goodly measure of bamboozlement and of course skilled salesmanship to justify the unjustifiable... and SOLD..!!

Yup us baby boomers seem to have enjoyed and encouraged the yoof to follow in our heavily indebted footsteps by creating expectations the likes of which the young may never be able to afford to pay back... ?

The debt to GDP ratio of the US and UK and many other western economies looks to be beyond belief for one who still uses his fingers to count on occasion..?

We baby boomers have created over valued MARKETS in so very much, and classic cars would seem to be ripe for collapse as those of us in our 70`s and beyond line up to exit the planet, the young (those who might still have cash or access to credit) having their own ideas on that which they might determine as classics..? As for the INVESTMENT value of anything with an ICE for propulsion, let alone old tec classics..? With climate change becoming ever more prominent, I suspect any such machine`s value to reduce somewhat with the passage of time perhaps as the result of punitive taxation in one disguise or another.

All that before the advent of Covid-19, which seems to have the potential to be the BIG red re-set button as governments struggle to balance phoney finance against the health of the nations. In time I expect the market value of anything to be re-assessed, and in perhaps a shorter period of time than many might think. Seems so much is vaccine dependant too..?

Phoney finance..? There are those who in the media who use the term "printing money" to describe govt attempts to fund the necessary excessive spending required in an attempt to maintain the BASICS.... When did you last handle printed notes, and how many have you handled in the last ten or more years....? Currency seems to be all just ones and zeros and has been for quite some time, how easy is it to manipulate those, or in fact to loose them in some sort of ..err.."Computer Glitch"..?

I guess if we have a shiny Morgan at least we will have something physical should some of our ones and zeros get lost along the way..

Yeah...planning for the worst while hoping for the best, could do with the addition of some blinkers or a minimum of rose tinted glasses, perhaps with some alcohol too...?

Yup it is being so cheery that keeps me going...
