I am sure this has been discussed but I have questions and thought if I started a new post, I would get some fresh ideas. I noticed today that this car sits low and the taillights are really low. I am thinking of finding a third brake light that is pedestal mounted and adding it between the roll hoops. Has anyone attempted this yet? I want to wire it into the brake lights. I have found a couple of these lights and it appears that I would have to make a mounting block due to the curvature of the back of the Morgan. Is anyone aware if there is a connection in the wiring loom for a third brake light? I know the Australian cars have a third brake light. I am not sure from the diagram exactly where it mounts. I really want this to be between the hoops to get as much height as possible. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. For my fellow 3 wheeler friends across the pond, over here in the USA, some of our drivers get distracted. There is a lot going on while they drive such as, texting, taking selfies, posting on facebook, eating lunch, talking on the phone, etc.... Any safety lights I can put on the back of the car to help me get noticed would be a big help. So I will pursue this, hopefully someone has done all the leg work and I can just be lazy and follow their lead!

Maybe mount on roll hoops, pretty high up and you do not have to drill any holes...

The roll hoops get banged by a helmet Nd grabbed by hands in my machine. I opted for drilling a hole, don’t regret it at all. A pulsing (programmable) third lamp.
I would post the photo but I had it in this Forum before and the darn imaging program and my iPad are not playing well. Maybe a trip to my desktop.

I just emailed a company that does motorcycle lighting. Told them what I was needing and wanting to do. I hope to talk with them this week. I want to make it clean and a part of the car as much as possible. Once I find something that will fit the area, I will see what it will take to mount it on the surface between the hoops. I am not thinking it will be difficult to do. I would like to ad day time running lights to the ca. I noticed when I was relocating the headlights that there was a spare wire in the headlight bucket. Is that for running lights? I would like to upgrade the headlights on this car as well. I want to get it ready for some long touring trips this coming spring

Do you really want wire going up the roll hoops? Or drill a hole for the wiring in the roll hoop?

Because what you propose is factory fit on the Australian version as above, the standard loom already includes connections for it. Look for two way connector tucked away with green/purple and black cables. You will just need the lamp pod U340032 and pedestal T400037 and drill a hole of course.

Richard is correct. I ordered those part numbers a while ago and received the following:




I found the finish on the aluminium upstand to be poor so this will require refinishing & polishing before fitting.




I haven't got around to fitting it yet, partly because it goes against the grain to cut a 12mm hole in the bodywork. Also, my car is a 2012 model so will almost certainly not have the necessary electrical connector in the wiring loom. Not a big problem I guess but another reason to put the project on the back burner for now!

By the way, in 2018 I paid Uncle Melvyn £38.31 for the lamp (U340032) and £8.67 for the pedestal (T400037). Both prices exclude VAT & delivery.

A third higher lamp will be for sure a nice safety DIY winter project.

But Hogzilla: consider that the kind of third lights shown in the pictures above have a "con": if you plan to travel and consequently use a luggage rack, this light will interfere with the rack and/or be hidden behind the luggage.

Check out my luggage set: it's not too tall but it would definitely hide any third lamp.



But if you don't plan to travel ever with your 3-Wheeler, then this may never need a luggage rack and so many bags on it. Also if you travel solo, you can use the co-pilot's side and footwell to put your bags, and don't need again the luggage rack.

In our case we're two travelling with the 3-Wheeler, so we really need it.
