Scroll down a bit to Amazon recommendations and you'll see a link to the one with the Maxi on the front Peter. Haven't found the others, yet! Cheers Graham, ordered it, look forward to finding some on my travels I have a live google map, with every location pinpointed. I don't mind sharing it with those who have genuinely bought the book.

Very interesting book. My old house that I'm currently restoring also includes a small smithy building that was also a gas station in the 1930s. On the old photo you can see the " Eiserne Jungfrau" (Iron Virgin) fuel pump. The brand was Standard (Esso). It will be a perfect home for my 4/4. :-) ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/39806028or.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/39806078sc.jpg) Klasse! Ich warte auf die moglochkeit fur eine Deutsche rundreise. So viele alte tankstellen! My German hasn't improved since I was an apprentice in Saarbrucken.

Rich,
if it is as much fun as your magazine, especially the last edition, I'll be onto them..perfect Christmas reading. Down in the New Forest we have a couple that look as though they exist in a timewarp.... Some I posted here a few years ago. I wonder if they are in your book!!

Thanks Peter! Yes, there are three of particular interest in the New Forest which I personally visited, and others. They're in the South and East edition of the book. When I was at one location I got photobombed by a huge sow! She's in the book

Rich Which is the " a Ferrari garage that was forgotten for decades" ? I would rather not mention the location of this (or other places) on a public forum for fear of oik and urban explorers turning up. I will drop you a direct message and tell you, though. It's quite peculiar!

Rich, Super South East arrived today, thoroughly enjoying it, amazed at how many I recognise. Really was hoping my Father's garage (Giffords Cross, Corringham) was going to be in there but alas. I found it very nostalgic, especially the Smurf I begged him to fill up everytime we passed a National garage (seem to recall getting them from Elf garages as well? Not sure though) I can see him now rolling his eyes More to do with spending his money in a "rivals" garage. Great book

Not sure though) I can see him now rolling his eyes More to do with spending his money in a "rivals" garage. Great book Thank you, Peter! Here's a snippet about Elf, taken from the Wales edition. Not the most interesting pic, but the story is good; ![[Linked Image]](https://www.motorpunk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/elf-scandal-book-on-abandoned-filling-stations.jpg) This picture of a rough-looking former Elf filling station in Tremadog gives the chance to share a little history of the colourful oil company, Elf. Founded following a merger of various French businesses in 1967, Elf-branded filling stations were prolific in the UK and they were never far from scandal. In ’76, Elf were embroiled in the ‘oil sniffer hoax’ when an Italian electrician and a Belgian Count developed a device that could, they said, sniff oil. They were also entwined with the French secret service and an anti-communist movement. With the Yom Kippur War, oil prices soared and people started to believe the daft invention could actually work. Elf invested, heavily. The contraption never worked and, with no scientific due diligence, amateurish trials went ahead, with the Italian coming up with endless excuses. “It is too accurate”, he said, aimlessly, while pocketing lots of cash. Elf lost $150 million before coming to their senses. No one was ever really brought to justice for the hoax. Wales edition on Amazon, here.South and East of England edition, here.Midlands and North is here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08LGMR...mp;qid=1603271110&s=books&sr=1-1PS - South West will go for proofing this week, and on sale next week. Then Scotland. Thanks to those who have ordered!
