I doubt a Mog is still using genuine sealed beams, they would be very old & the lifespan was not good

I have several of the newer non sealed beam headlight shells. Your are welcome to a pair if you can make it down to Felixstowe or we meet part way to wherever you are in Norfolk. I have the Classic Car Lighting ones fitted.

Hi - not done an LED conversion (although have used the company for rear and sidelights) but have converted to H4 front lights from sealed beam. Very easy swap over. I went for the Wipac Crystal 7" - I like the look of them, and used them on both my Land Rovers, so am happy with the light spread. I also went for sidelights in the lens and spliced them into the wing mounted sidelights - bit of a belt and braces approach. Had to trim a 'U' shape out of the backing plate to fit the sidelight bulb holder. I doubt a Mog is still using genuine sealed beams, they would be very old & the lifespan was not good Mine were still working fine after 47 years - only did the swap as I wanted the ease of a H4 bulb as they're available in most garages and I do a shed load of touring.

The other was on the car when I bought it - It may, for all I know, be the original. The sidelight bulbs, however, used to blow regularly until I replaced them both with LEDs.

You're right, I have a pair of genuine Lucas units dated 1967 that still work, saved for Mini concours comps, but the replacement stuff is a bit naff so for daily use I run with H4 conversions

Mine are still ok after 46 years also. Assuming they are the originals. When I removed them to check the voltage at the bulb I noticed they said Made in Canada (RHD) on the back. I've just done a relay conversion for the main, dipped and spot lights. Certainly improves things.

I did the halogen upgrade to my MGB which was almost dangerous to drive at night! I'm finding my night vision is not what it was. One of the disadvantages of getting old! So the more light the better.
