Brake first then change to a lower gear has long been a core concept of the System of Car Control in Roadcraft, the Police drivers manual, and adopted by IAM amongst others.
Was once advised by an instructor to use brake lights on a motorway to ward off tailgaters. Didn’t buy into that one. A shotgun facing aft and mounted on the boot lid usually works

Litter, I can’t understand why it still happens.
Needless signage, high vis, safety clutter, it’s all an ugly mess, can no one think for themselves nowadays?

, can no one think for themselves nowadays? Common sense vanished long ago Ewan! One of my moans - those that can't use apostrophes and plurals correctly. If it comes to motoring whinges, there's no way I can limit to three!

1. Only being allowed three.
2. The development of it's-about-me culture
3. The assumption that the UK remains a dominant country in the world and should not be a lot more worried about the next 20 years than it seems to be (the people not the politicians as we cannot rely on them to actually look ahead beyond the next tweet and clinic session.
How many more am I allowed?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Why is it that on the news we frequently see someone in a field miles from anywhere wearing a hard hat? Meteorite threat perhaps?

Why is it that on the news we frequently see someone in a field miles from anywhere wearing a hard hat? Meteorite threat perhaps? Well we are just coming to the Leonidies meteor shower over the next few days - from the Tempel Tuttle asteroid. I like the single occupier cars wearing a mask in the middle of nowhere They're just protecting their car's interior Richard!

Seriously though, I’d quite like to be corrected, feel free to do so as and when necessary on any of my posts. When composing an email at work, I always try to use spellcheck, it gives a little warm feeling of achievement when there are no errors

I'm with Ewn on the cluttered often multiple road signage, very distracting when driving!
Richmond upon Thames blanket 20 mph limit, replacing the previous 30, even on main A roads.
My final moan, would be the To**@£s who use their mobiles whilst driving, when their vehicle obviously has handsfree available.
