Had mine close to 5 years now, fantastic cars and having driven an S5 I found no noticeable difference in the drive or performance, so for me a good S1 seems like rather a bargain!

All sorts to watch out for but once fettled and as long as they are stored in a dry garage they are pretty reliable.

Make sure it has a good history, look at a few if you can, and read read read all the old threads in the Aero section, loads of info especially if you go back to the oldest threads via the search function (around 2006) as the cars were quite new then and there was a lot more information being posted.

I've only driven an S5, so the earlier ones may be different. For me, at around 5' 7", the seating position was very uncomfortable. Long reach to the pedals, and steering wheel far too close. Plus no elbow room.

Few people mention this, so it must be my short legs, but for me the seat position made it a complete non starter. I fit the Trad perfectly.

The biggest issue for me with the S1 is that MMC dont seem to be supporting the spares for it and you can have to wait for several months for certain items. I have lost two wheel due to grub screw issues and gone through numerous batteries - replace every 2 years now! Other than that its a great car!

So far pretty good , minor issues of the digital read out switching out occasionally due to earthing problems on electrics , not much else really , difficult to think of what else provides so much enjoyment and rarity , and when the weather is reasonable then its glorious with hood down or up with the side pipes .

I've had my S1 for around 5 years. It's the only car I've had in 40 years of motoring that I've decided I'll never sell until I'm too old to drive. Take from that what you will......

It’s interesting I do wonder if differing storage causes issues, I have had no battery issues..

Regarding wheels if the grub screws are in they cannot come off, but if not in correctly or if damaged or not matched to the correct hub you are in for a world of pain..

Taffy. Could you expand on the grub screw issue.

I need to understand potential issues.

A friend of mine spaced out the pedal box to bring it closer. He had the same issue.

It seems that the grub screws weren't actually locating in the "slot" correctly even though it looked to be ie at the right "depth". I also had a new set of wheels and by rights these should have been re-drilled but the Morgan dealer didn't undertake this so the nut wasn't 100% tight.

Gotcha. Ok, thanks for that. I usually mark on the wheel where the grub screw needs to sit. Also thread lock the rascal.
