The Chassis brace was free of charge and all(?) owners at the time would have received a letter from MMC and/or their dealer.

Thanks for the tip - no reply from him yet and I'm not sure how easily I could sell a left hander on.

Although your car was registered in 2015 it was manufactured before then and has a pre-2014 specification chassis. With that in mind you should be aware of the crack issues for the upper rear wishbone tube and lower forward wishbone mount areas. There are articles about where and what to check on the MTWC website as well as in the buyers guide https://www.mtwc.co.uk/news-post/

I have the bolt in “A” frame, I’d always associated continued cracking problems with the original simple bolt in cross piece not the “A” frame?

I had the same on my car - bolt-in crossmember first, replaced by bolt-in A-Frame f.o.c by dealer at some future service. Cracks still appeared in both places mentioned above, requiring chassis change. Suspect that these different bracing methods just moved the problem somewhere else unfortunately.

The bolt in "A" frame does not eliminate the crack problems but may reduce them. There is more to the post 2014 chassis than just a welded in "A" frame cross brace I suspect. Although I cannot say with 100% certainty, some of the tube gauges are thicker and possibly of a different specification. As far as we are aware, there have been no cases of the detailed cracks on post 2014 specification chassis and the MMC "recall" was not applicable to post 2014 chassis cars. Sadly DVSA didn't make MMC issue a chassis crack recall. The faulty early brake pedal design remains the only official recall for the M3W. The chassis cracks were only mentioned in the information at the top of this forum section by MMC. Possibly DVSA and MMC considered the cracking of the front suspension mounts to be a non catastrophic type failure? Let's hope they are right.

If you have a pre 2014 specification chassis car, I suggest you familiarise yourself with what and where to check on the chassis and check it periodically. A scheduled dealer service is no guarantee that the chassis will not be cracked. As mentioned, the information is freely available on the MTWC website.

A bit of thread drift there Phil, sorry. I hope you find a suitable M3W.
