A small appeal for creative ideas please.

Here's the challenge: These cold winter evenings are making schlepping down the garden to the studio a less than attractive proposition, so I'm doing more guitar playing in the house. Ergo, I have just ordered a new gizmo, a Headrush Pedalboard for those of you who know about such things. I want to use it in the lounge, which is carpeted. It is a fairly significant size and weight, 30cm x 60cm, 7kg, so it's not really the sort of thing to easily pick up and move around, and 'er indoors is not going to be best pleased if I leave it out in the middle of the room when not playing with it (trip hazard). But she'll be very happy if it can simply slide away and live in front of the amp when not being used.

First thought was to sit in on a board with castors underneath, but all the castors I can find are a good dealer taller than I'd like, this thing needs to be as close to the floor as possible. Does anyone know if there are any really low profile low friction slidey/rolly type things that I can use to be able to move it about relatively easily? All ideas gratefully received, if not actually acted upon

Wow, I don't know that furniture sliders were a thing. Yep, there's loads of these available here now I know what to search for. Looks like I can put them direct on the bottom of the pedalboard too.

You have taken me back 50 years! Back then I found that a Fuzz box, Wha-Wha and delay pedals do NOT need fixing on a board. I thought it would be a slick and quick set up but the change of angle made my ankle ache after a few minutes as the pedals and switches were too high, plus I tended to stomp on the button switches.

Just make sure you don’t need a platform to correct height issues or Jane will have your nuts for earrings!

Maybe a grab loop to help pick it up? I just think by the time you have added a board plus castors or whatever you could end up with the whole box a fair bit higher.

Of course you could make Jane a Roadie and she could be responsible for setting up your gear and packing it away. Please advise when your telling her this wonderful news as I have access to strong prescription analgesics and will send you some.

I would go with the above sliders as the first route. Maybe fitted on a board that you clip it to so you can remove it if needed.

You can buy sliders at Homebase and presumably other DIY stores as well.

I was thinking a board wider than the footboard - you could recess the castors via the bottom on the outside edges, and then rout out a centre area on the top that the pedal board could sit in. Keep it as close to the floor as possible

I did (very briefly) consider moving my full wet/dry rig from the studio into the living room, but quickly realised it might not meet with approval from the Domestic Authority
