Will,
have you watched the display drivers at Mercedes World drifting their AMG 63s round the wet circuit part of the track? They have to turn all the support systems off to do this, but they CAN be turned off, 100%, other than the mechanical LSD.
I used to glimpse them as the train passed Brooklands :-) The Thruxton skid pan sessions saw a lot of 3 & 4 series BMWs, an Alfa Giulia, and a Mini - all of whose control systems couldn't be turned off, and whose dashboards lit up for Christmas. some found themselves in limp home mode as their nannies told them off. All very well, good & safe on the public highway, but not a lot of fun in a low speed/no friction environment. Speaking to the BMW team at a Goodwood driving day yesterday, they set traction controls to low intrusion, but definitely on - which I can confirm from a lary moment coming out of Lavant in a Z4 ;-) Will

I would love how to find out how to turn the damn nanny off on the ML63. Drives me mental.
I don't think I will try drifting it, private or public roads! I was pleasantly surprised bu the Thruxton skidpan experience- not least that the pan is a decent size - there's room to lose a car without falling off the pan, and all at about 5mph Will

Thursday I go to "work" at the Aircraft Collection. This morning was bright, a blue sky and not raining, so I took Tarka. Not much happening on the airfield, but I thought the photo captures the mood of the morning rather well. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/12/17/Tarka-at-Old-Sarum.jpg) It may not have been raining, but the roads were damp, meaning Tarka now needs a wipe down! The winter tyres are amazing, on a cold wet road where the Pilot. Sport 4S+ would have been skittish the Cross Climates just gripped, no need to a super careful right foot on roundabouts and white road paint! Very reassuring!

The alloys look nicer in that picture.
You will be hours cleaning it now 8)
The road-track Dunlops on the mini hate this weather and takes ages to reach temp, spin spin spin!

John,
the Zoom call was enormous fun, it needs to be repeated! SwanMog are a great bunch.
Im becoming very fond of the S&M rubber rings, they certainly grip well.
Alistair...
Cleaning the Plus 8 with the waterless spray stuff takes about 30 minutes, unless I'm in a hurry. It is a SMALL CAR....virtually nothing after the rear wheels... Talking of wheels, the black discs are far easier to clean than the AeroMax wheels!!

That is a nice morning picture, I do love airfields - I am lucky to live in close proximity to a small one and it always invokes some emotion when I walk past. I would love how to find out how to turn the damn nanny off on the ML63. Drives me mental.

Must google it when spring comes..

Thruxton is ready and waiting to take your money ? https://thruxtonracing.co.uk/skidpanMaybe a good outing for next year for a group. No matter what happens (with the exception of a total prang god forbid) you can stay well distanced?
