Hi everyone. A simple question I hope ? I only ever use NGK plugs and have BPR6ES currently fitted in my highly modified Plus8 engine. Is it worth paying 4 times as much for the equivalent NGK BPR6EIX Iridium plug ? I know they last longer, but since it's only £24 for a set of the standard plugs, I'm happy to frequently change them. Stay safe, John.

Hi Jads. I run iridium plugs on my 1800 3 cyl two stroke outboard its 90 quid every 175 to 200 hours it hurts a bit with no ngk equivilent available. If your happy with your motor the way it is I would leave well alone, theres something quite satisfying whipping your plugs our every 10k to check everythings ok. Em

Didn't realise they lasted longer than normal copper tip. As suggested they won't offer any noticeable improvement over a well set up ignition system with standard plugs. They will offer an easier start though when the chips are down in cold damp conditions. This because the exotic material allows a finer tip, in turn allowing spark to jump more freely hence with lower voltage. Gold palladium was first used for fine tip plugs now it's Iridium. Have just put one in my Velocette and managed to start it before my leg gave out, so that's an improvement

Last time I changed a set, they'd done about 45k miles, the gap had only eroded about 2 thou, and the electrodes were really clean, big thumbs up for Iridium from me

Probably on the wrong thread here, but could do with advice. Changing the plugs on our 2015 Plus 4 GDI for Iridium plugs (recommended by Wolf), but don't know what the gap should be? Anyone any ideas?

That's what we thought - but the gaps in the box were between 23 and 28 thou..... A Ford GDI YouTube video suggests 35 thou...

1999 Plus8 When I read your post and you use the phrase "I'm happy to frequently change them", makes me wonder how often you do change the plugs? Even on a "highly modified Plus 8 engine" if the ignition system is set up correctly the plugs won't need replacing that often and as mentioned above doubt you would see any benefit in using the Iridium Plugs for the extra cost.
