Do you have Marvel Mystery Oil over there, its an old and tried recipe? It can be added to both the oil and fuel and keeps everything clean, I have 68,000 miles on my +8 the internals are still lovely and clean having never had to replace the injectors, etc.. You wont see any black smoke or other indicators of cleaning.

Another trick used by some Morganeers is to remove about a litre of oil and fill with ATF transmission oil run for approximately 100 miles and then change the oil. ATF oil has some great cleaning properties.

That's usually the product itself burning off, rather than cleaning much...

I'm still undecided on the so called premium fuels, also don't forget the raised octane level advertised is often gained by adding more Ethanol ('nuff said) my previous Roadster covered over 50k miles on standard petrol, I just ensured busy retailers with good turnover, when I changed the Iridium plugs they were like almost new & I stuck an endoscope down each plug hole & all looked remarkably clean

I usually swap suppliers regularly. If Tesco I use their premium & then normal Shell or Esso with the odd premium splurge.
I always think my cars run better on Shell but have no proof.
As Jon says I always buy from busy outlets.

An old engineer friend of mine used to recommend sticking a bit of diesel oil in my old Land Rover as it had more detergent properties than petrol oil. Didn't seem to do any harm but it was in an old 2.25 petrol....

A few years ago I had a Focus td . Commuting 60 miles each way on the M4 . I tried Millers octane boost. It worked and gave a slight mpg improvement. A bottle cost £12 and by the time I had used it up over a few tankfulls I saved about £36 giving net £24 saving. A mate tried it in a Golf and he had no improvement.
In the current Plus 8 I use V-Power regularly. I was getting a “random intermittent misfire” code. In the end trying the V-Power keeps it away. I do use 95 octane if no V-Power available. I haven’t gone down the Millers route.

My S1 Roadster didn't like cheap supermarket fuel & gave an engine warning light due to the cat not warming up fast enough when starting from warm in winter. Super fuel stopped that.

When I swapped engines I set up the mapping using 95 octane supermarket fuel so that the fuelling and in particular the ignition timing would be slightly on the conservative side. (BTW, my engine does not have any political allegiance.)

Don't ask me why but every so often I treat Mog to a tank of V-Power but I have no idea if it makes much difference.

Remember that the cold winter air will make the engine feel more responsive anyway, in particular on an EFI engine that can automatically compensate for the increased air density by giving the engine more fuel.

From what I've read, the esso supreme+ 99 contains no ethanol, in most areas except teesside, Scotland and somewhere else I can't recall.
