My son has chosen "Like a Bat out of Hell" by Meatloaf for me (we have had some memorable trips out together) - I'm more of an "Enigma variations" or "Lark Ascending " person but I don't really mind as long as they all have a good drink and some good food.

I do love Meatloaf's music though.

I too have a fondness for the Enigma Variations, hence it is top of the list for me Richard.
I lived not so far away from his birthplace and visited a number of times.
His association with Malvern was also significant, and it is the Introduction and Allegro for Strings that reminds me most of the gale force winds at the top of the Malvern Beacon.
Bat Out of Hell might is another gale force of course!

A good friend of mine arrived at the crem. in a Trotters Independent Traders 3 wheeler as a hearse & went out as the curtains closed to Johnny Cash singing Ring of Fire. He was in his 30s & it generated a lot of tutting from the older generations.

An ex work colleague insisted he didn't want the company hearse to take him on his final journey, he wanted a sign written, Mercedes Benz sprinter van because that was what he spent his working life travelling in.

I was asked if my van could be used, I said it'd be an honour to grant him one of his final wishes.
Raised a few eyebrows at the church and graveyard though, but a lot of smiles as well.

Our M-i-L was born inland from Sorrento.
She is in advancing years now and when we were discussing arrangements it got a little scary.
She said that she wanted a ceremony in the UK having lived here most of her life.
She then went on to say that she wanted to be laid to rest somewhere on the slopes of either here town or the amalfi coast having lived there as well.

In my mind the thoughts instantly went to how the heck will we get the coffin to Italy, do we need a special coffin, what will the paperwork be like, how the hell will we load and unload at the far end!
You dearly want to say yes at that point but I had a bit of a brainfart trying to work out what we would need to do.

Then she said she wanted to be cremated.
Thank the lords.

Excellent!
I understand that the scenery is very different on the other side of the barbed wire fence that is the gateway to another life.
I prefer the Narnia's wardrobe, but that doesn't work either.
