Hi everyone. I'm always very happy with my old plus 8. But I have a problem with our 12/2007 Aero 8. The car refuse to start. Inertia switch is in the good position, battery is ok, main switch is ok. When I turn the key, all the lights come, I can hear the fuel pump turning and all the usual bzzz and tiny electric noises but then if I press the start button...nothing happen. No starter. When we had the car, the remote for central locking never worked. I suspect it could come from the alarm or some electronic bits. All fuses and relays ok...I'm a bit lost. Did some of you already face that kind of trouble? Any idea or help would be very useful. Thank you for your help

Vianney, you might be better posting this in the aero forum.

Vianney, firstly welcome to TM.
Your starting problem sounds exactly the same as the problem I had with 2009 Aero on the first day I went to drive it. It started and reversed out of the garage OK, when I tried to start it again after locking the garage....... nothing. The ignition worked, lights etc, but absolutely nothing when the starter button was pressed.
It turned out to be a failed soldered joint in the starter circuit somewhere. I am sorry I can't tell you more, the car ran fine with a bump start to get it to my nearest agent, who found and fixed the fault.
I hope you get it sorted soon and get back on the road.

Good evening Vianney, I have a 2008 S4 Aero and coincidentally my car failed to start last week. I had driven into town and when I returned to start the car, turned the key, pressed clutch and then the start button nothing but a faint buzz from under the bonnet. After several attempts to start it, about twenty minutes later, it fired up. When I returned home I tried to start the car at various intervals throughout the day and it started evey time. Later that evening I had a look around under the bonnet and to my absolute amazement I found the live cable to the battery terminal was just pushed into the socket and not properly crimped. I have now replaced both terminals and fingers crossed that should be a cure. Could be worth you checking yours. All the best Tony.

Hi Vianney, not sure if you've sorted this yet or not, so apologies if I'm late to the party. I've recently experienced the same issue with my 2007 4.4 V8 Aero. Turns out that the factory incorrectly labelled some of the fuse boxes and the Fuse for the Starter Solenoid is shown as a 20A whereas it should be a 30A. I've changed the fuse from a 20A to 30A and the Aero has started on the button every time since. Fingers crossed this works for you too, if you've not yet found this solution.
Cheers, Paul
