I must admit I have seen some horror stories, people taking a tapping from their central heating tank to the car or inverting the large 47kg bottles . The most common with transit vans was a few fork lift gas bottles laying on their sides as the dip tube suited the application. Em The range would be quite small with the hose from the heating tank.

The horrific crash and fireball at the Bahrain F1 race suggests strongly to me that petrol and high voltage/current electricity should not be found in the same place.
Romain Grosjean is very lucky, but a similar fire will happen again on a motorway somewhere and the occupants will not be as well protected as in a F1 car and medical help will not be on hand.

Yes the marshalling was a bit chocolate teapot. Thank god for the response of the medicar getting stuck in.
Stunned that he got out and despite the car breaking into two it does show the work done to make things better.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I was surprised that the marshalls had open face helmets. I wouldn't want to be diving into a fireball like that to help without decent protection If he had been unable to get out on his own for any reason I don't think they could have helped much.
I also wonder if the car breaking in half actually helped as it meant that the fuel cell wasn't in the part that caught fire. An extra 100kg+ of fuel in those flames & I think it would have been a different result.
I just think he was amazingly lucky to walk away from that and was very surprised to see it - along with the TV directors etc as they immediately cut away.

+1. I understood that because if broke up fuel leaked out of the cell. You would have thought there would be auto shut off valves. Either way if it was in N earlier era he would be dead or badly wounded like Lauda

What I don't understand is where the barrier gaps are the first part of the barrier protrude out to the runoff areas off the track. It would make more sense if the next section of barrier turned inwards behind the section he hit.a similar track design cought Carlos out a couple of races back.

Personally I think I will wait for the mini-micro cold fusion power plant that is obviously the power source of the future. I can't wait to get one fitted to the Plus 4. It should be ideal for activating the Flubber. About 6 years ago Lockheed Martin said they would have a prototype truck sized fusion reactor within 5 years. Compact Fusion
