Sad as it is I tend to agree. As the saying goes “it’s show business not show friends”. A 30m turnover family owned business with thin profits is unlikely to be that benevolent in my experience. I really like the look of the original ACE but wouldn’t be interested in the new one, if the choice had to be made about buying a new ACE I’d probably go down the Caterham route.

If I recall, some members of the MTWC had strong objections to the appearance of the "M3W 5speed" amongst their ranks and in the bulletin. The appearance of Pete's latest creation (and kudos to him of course: far more interesting than any supercar!) may cause some of them to need an upgrade their pacemakers! wink

Very good read. I originally looked at getting an ACE but the timing was not right to spend the $$'s and so I was disappointed they were not still available. I was aware of his quality work from the sidecar world.

As much as people on here want to bring MMC into disrepute they did nothing that isn't done in business every day, PL learnt a powerful lesson; make sure you have a well negotiated written contract before entering into any kind of propriety relationship and always expect the unexpected. I bet he won't do that again.

It just proves that they are not as good as their word and not much more than carny charlatans that make quirky, albeit nice, little cars to line their pockets. The big car manufacturers at least make an effort to get things right and will go back years to fix defects when forced. Nobody forces MMC to do anything except maybe an attorney or two who beat on them saying you are going to kill someone if you keep producing things that fly apart. The frame issue is well documented and MMC should have taken ALL cars under a certain manufacture date and replaced ALL the frames at no cost. I feel sorry for the people who are stuck with frames that have or will break.

Some of the old guard tried to stop 5 speeder owners from becoming members of the MTWC, there was some serious keyboard warrior stuff published
