Went to open day and saw a couple of alternative engines. Given mine has just broken a valve spring. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/12/06/6BF7C655-E563-4168-96C4-5EEDCE6E3BF8.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/12/06/63D4919C-2CE0-49A0-9C3E-F3318B933304.jpg) Open day at Warbirds Ardmore, NZ By the way these are shots of a P40 and a Spitfire being built at Ardmore

I think that was a RR Meteor engine based on the Merlin (27 litre). That Spitfire looks like a later version with a Griffon (37 litre). If you were going to go to the bother of fitting one to your M3W, you wouldn't go for the de-tuned one or the "small" one, it would have to be the Griffon.

IIRC correctly, the Meteor engine is a Merlin without superchargers - around 600 bhp.
