Watched every second of an extraordinary race. George Russell was superb and is surely a future world champion. The Mercedes debacle in the pits... less said the better. Great to see Perez on the podium and hope he gets a good seat for next year but it should have been George up there.

Err Perez nailed it I think it says on my news at least, so somebody sign him for goodness sake.
Bottas 8th I'll bet Toto will have a little post race chat about that result.

I think its likely to be the other way round. As Toto himself had the honesty to say on interview, it was a team f*** up. Bottas was well beaten by Russel who really demonstrated his ability in every area. In a way, today was to his long term advantage because the team mess up forced him to show skills that wouldnt have been obvious in a no problem trundle round. Perez was lucky being gifted the race by Toto. That said he is better than Lance but wrong choice of father. . Having just watched the race on C4 I agree with you and I really hope Perez gets a drive next year somehow. I do think Bottas has lost his Mojo though in much the same way Vettel has this year. It was a proper nail biter though I really enjoyed it, pity Max and Leclerc shot themselves in the foot though we could have had even more excitement with them in the mix.

Bottas was given the wrong, old tyres in that pit fiasco, which is one reason he couldn't do much in that last stint.

The pit crew at Merc will not be getting a bonus this week for their performance, trying to be far too clever pitting both cars at the same time has to be a precision job, it's life we don't always get it right.
They have nothing left to prove this year lets face it.
It's a great pity LeClerc and Max wiped themselves out on the first lap. this would have been an entirely different race with two very hungry talented young bloods up front fighting for the victory.

You are Toto Wolff
Mercedes have Bottas under contract next year, Hamilton’s contract expires at the end of the season, Russell is very competitive after 1 drive in a car he didn’t really fit in with minimal practice. Do you: Replace Bottas with Russell. Russell will of course have to act as a number 2 and defer to LH, LH does not play well with others (most champions don’t) Replace Hamilton with Russell, he’d be a lot cheaper, has proven he can be competitive. Mercedes would probably still be constructors champion and probably drivers champion. Leave it as it is Bottas and Hamilton and risk seeing Russell in a Red Bull, use Russell’s success to argue against a massive LH pay check next year or only offer a one year deal rather than a multi year deal.
While we are at it who should get the second seat at Red Bull? Albon, Hulkenberg, Perez, Russell?

Could be a mistake to have LH andGR in the same team... could get expensive in cars.

No, I expect he'd pull the plug..
I can't imagine where the money is going to come from next year when it becomes Aston Martin Vantage as they have been broke as a company for as long as I can remember.
