Having recently bought my S4 it has a vibration issue from the rear which gets worse at speed. Initially thought it was wheel balance as rear tyres had just been replaced. Had the wheel balance done on the rear and found there the nearside wheel was buckled. Bloke said no problem balanced the wheels and now have the vibration at lower sppeds too confused2 .Took the car to Williams last friday who have replaced the buckled wheel and rebalanced the wheels and....only marginally better but they did find that there was a split on thge outer casing of the propshaft which could be the culprit confused2 Any ideas welcomed. I'm still trying to master adding photo's so hopefully they are attached of the split propshaft.

Cheers

That's a significant crack, I'd only drive it very slowly (on to a trailer)
There are specialists out there who advertise propshaft balancing, and I assume they could build you another & transplant the 'ends'
Also worth a call to the factory perhaps on the off-chance of a spare / who made them originally

Wow seen a few in my time but not on a toy like we drive and not as long as that, I think it could probably be welded and balanced as mentioned. I would send it off to a prop refurber unless you have deep pockets, worth a phone call to the malvern cavern of dreams though. Good luck . Em

No way should that be welded. That is a very straight crack, I do hope it's not ERW seamed tube? I would cut it open to find out. Other Aero owners need to know if that is the case.
I know a place in Leeds that will rebuild/make a new one but I assume you'll be able to find somewhere a lot nearer to you.
Cheers
John

what could cause a crack like that?

I too would be wary of driving any distance/speed 'till it was fixed (or replaced)

Good luck with getting it sorted......

It looks like a seam fail, being so straight, and not fresh either. I've never seen a prop fail like that.

Gosh... not a sight one wants to see. scared

My impression is that it is a tube manufacturing problem and I'd want to have a new prop shaft tube. Yes, it could be repaired, but there is no way of knowing how far along the tube the weakness exists and that could later fail.

If you have bottomless pockets a new carbon fiber prop shaft would be the way to go,,,,,,, exting

Sorry to see this Andrew, what with the wheel and this it's taken the shine off new ownership for you.
Once it's sorted you will have lots of fun with her I'm sure.

Just noticed a receipt from the factory back in 2016 which noted O/S Lower Ball joint movement (which they replaced 2 weeks later) and"Prop Coupling has Minor Split" (not repaired clearly...maybe it was smaller than now and not seen as important?). Now I wondering if this is the source of the vibration confused2
