Having looked a bit closer at that picture of the failure, there are quite clear rub marks which look like they have come from the flange in the tunnel.
It also looks as though the rubbing is heavier on the split side of the tube suggesting that the shaft might also be bending.
Difficult to be sure from photographs but the shaft should be analysed and maybe the findings should be shared with other owners if a defect is found.

I don't normally frequent this part of the forum but I've just tripped over this thread.
I wonder how long you've had this car because that split looks to me as something that started a while back and is now propagating quite badly.
I used to work in the prop shaft industry (many years ago) and I can tell you that shaft is not safe to drive.
Whatever you do, don't spin up the shaft to any significant RPM and only put the minimum torque you can use to get it on a transporter.
And don't weld up the crack. It either needs a new tube fitting of a complete new prop shaft.
I could even suggest that the car might have been sold to you in an unsafe condition. What about contacting the seller for a friendly chat. Thanks Bob, I'm getting priced up a new propshaft from Morgan....which may take a while as suspect it may be a case of trying to source 1 from whoever was the original manufacturer.

Earlier in the thread you mention that a crack had been noted on the proshaft coupling as opposed to the propshaft itself (I can’t understand why this wasn’t replaced immediately.) It’ll be interesting to see if it is the coupling which has put the propshaft out of phase and turns out to be the route cause of the split. Like yourself I’m playing catch up on what’s under the bonnet and have found this link Aero8 MK1 Parts book (mogparts.net) Mogparts.net to be quite useful in identifying the various parts etc – page 43 being relevant to this particular issue. Whilst this is a setback – you have a great looking car which should give you a great deal of pleasure once these issues have been sorted. Regards Will Aero S5

Interesting  ...but no prop shaft illustrations so going to stick with the S2 to 2016 reference as this has the part number ...let's see if Morgan can locate 1 though
