Having not heard anything after bumping a couple of times I am letting you all know Beth and I have made reservations at Skyland for June 2-5.

More thoughts on rides to follow.

It is official, I announced my retirement which will take place the end of April

Hello All! This is actually '06032'. I apologize for the delay in responding with feedback. When my iMac died, I lost my TM password. Despite several pleas to the Admin to reset it over the last two months, no luck. Out of desperation, I applied for a new ID. Even that took time.
But here I am, 06032...and with info!

Group Sales at Skyland wasn't much easier to reach. But I'm thrilled to report that we have an initial block of fifteen (15) rooms reserved at Skyland for Wed-Sun, June 2-6. Helen Morton, Dir, Sales and Marketing, 540.742.3454 is our current contact.

Booking: Morgan Three Wheeler Club

Room rates:
Premium - Two Queen Beds: $163.00
Preferred - Two Queen Beds: $155.00
Traditional - Two Queen Beds: 124.00

Other accommodations are available and can be price-adjusted similarly. If you've already made an individual reservation, please call to move it over to this group

My suspicion is that we'll have a lot of pent up demand to attend this event.
'Display' parking for us will be arranged on the lawn - provided no oil leaks! smile
The facility is happy to host and suspects its other guests will enjoy seeing our fleet.

Parking for trailers is available.

1. I'd like to plan 1-2 social gatherings for us at Skyland, perhaps with beer and wine. Thinking maybe Thurs and Sat PM's?
2. Daily road trip planning is key and I'm hoping Roger/RCMatt can take the lead on that now that he's accumulated a bit of local knowledge and time?!
3. No doubt we have a preferred vendor or two that will enjoy an invite. I'm thinking Emil again and at least as a courtesy, Phil. Possibly a dealer.
4. Should we reserve classroom/meeting space for presentations, discussions?
5. Anyone interested in taking on the Social Director role....meal and entertainment venue planning?

I for one am REALLY looking forward to this camaraderie.
Can't begin to describe how much I missed it two years ago after kick starting it.

Michael

Here are suggestions for two rides taking in a couple of interesting sites and venues.

1: Ride to Front Royal and then head a little west to VA 678. This is an out of the way ride through Fort Valley and a winding climb to the top of the ridge of Massanutten Mountain and an overlook of Luray VA. Then a steep and winding road (sort of like a Beatles song) into Luray for lunch. Luray allows us to climb up to skyline drive and back to the lodge. It is only 103 miles, but Google says it takes 3 hours!.

2: Skyland lodge to Huntly VA (via Front Royal) and a visit/tour/tasting at Rappahannock cellars. They also have picnic tables so it would be a great place to have a picnic lunch. We are members of their wine club, so if people wish to purchase wine we can mix and match a case with a 15% discount. I will have to check but there is a reasonable fee for the tour tasting. From Huntly then off to Sperryville to the Copper Fox distillery. This is a small distillery with a free tour (tasting has a fee) and they make a REALLY good single malt barley whisky. Then back to Skyland where I am sure we will all need a nap! Less than 90 miles but with the stops and winding roads will be the better part of a day.

The thing I remember most about the many 'I-BMW' K1200S rally's on th BRP was bonding over face-to-face time and messing about with bikes in the parking lots with a beer. The day- rides tended to take care of themselves given local knowledge. The procession made it fun. The scenery of course, is spectacular.

Folks, now that this rally redo looks like it has serious legs to come fruition, I've created a dedicated 'Blue Ridge Parkway Rally, 2-6 June '21' thread to run with it from here. Details have been moved and will be updated only there.
