Hated school, left at the first opportunity, very quickly regretted that, now drive a Morgan. Anything is possible if you're prepared to work hard and wait long enough

The day after I'd officially left school at 16 my Dad woke me up at 6.30am and said you're starting work today get out of bed, 4 years motor vehicle apprenticeship. Now I look back I can't thank him enough, lost him 24 years ago and miss him everyday.

Another Ex Grammar Student here (2002 onwards though!) Many regrets, but still ended up with a Morgan Hated almost all of it due to not having the same hobbies\interests etc as everyone else. Couldn't be bothered at all with the GCSE's but did quite well (I did wonder at the time what I could have got if I had made the effort) Wasn't really interested in anything other than History, so didnt really focus on much else, minimum effort in the other subjects meant I flew under the radar for the most part, Mucked up the AS levels too, then proceeded to do the same with the A-Levels, got the hint and proceeded to leave and get a job, Ironically for someone who failed a computing A Level and ICT AS-Level (Both Ungradable!), I now work in IT - quite ironic really.  Ended up getting a History degree through the Open Uni. It's made no difference to my career, but glad I got one in the end. Still have a massive interest in history, medicine and engineering and read anything I can get my hands on regarding these for fun. Would have liked to go into engineering but my dad warned me off that as a career - didnt stop me from badgering him to tell me what he had been working on etc! Wish I had worked harder, but it turned out ok in the end! (only other thing that I should have paid attention to was my mate who had no trouble chatting up the girls! - never got the hang of that one, still useless!  )

Gosh Peter , I went to Brunel by choice to read psychology , I had a great time although all the girls I dated wanted deep and meaningful conversations when I had a few alternative ideas. I was there from 69 to 74, doing a 4 year thin sandwich. The first year was at the Acton Campus, we moved to Uxbridge for the 2nd to 4th. When I arrived on the Uxbridge campus it was, as is said today, work in progress. The Biology/Chemistry building was brand new, the library but a dream, as was on campus halls and girls.. I think the ratio was 12 to 1... I lived at home, near Esher and drove in every day, Surrey County Council paid my fees and £1.45 a day public transport rate, which just about kept the car on the road. Living off campus was a two edged sword, I didn't engage much in university social life, but I knew where to find girls at home... Happy days! I too went to Brunel University but much later (1997 to 2001) One of my fellow members of the Motor Club was one Simon Hall, often wondered what became of him 😀 Arwyn

Went to school in Page's Walk / Old Kent Road. Don't regret anything, just wish that I tried harder with Martina Noble and Linda Herne......

I had a great time at school (RGS Worcester). Academically, I was shocking. Ended up staying on an extra year in an attempt to get some A levels, and luckily smashed up a car I'd 'borrowed' and ended up in intensive care. Got 'special dispensation' for my exams so managed to scrape a couple of grades and then blagged my way into University (that's another story.....) Am now 'poacher turned gamekeeper'

I too went to Brunel University but much later (1997 to 2001) One of my fellow members of the Motor Club was one Simon Hall, often wondered what became of him 😀 Arwyn i used to go to Brunel University back in the early 70's, we go over there and ride an old Puch Maxi around the fields until we were chased off by the police, we were 12 or 13 at the time

When I finished my (second) study I swore I would never enter a classroom again.
10 years later I was teaching economics and social studies to retrainees in the metal sector.
And I loved it!
