The bottom plate is welded in.

I am trying to avoid disconnecting hoses. I will see if i cannot knock off the rust on the pedal assembly with wd40. Most of the rust was on the plate underneath. I used a paint brush but it's pretty tight in there. I used a wheel brush and hand brush where I could reach, shop vac'd the dust, and cleaned as much by hand, and then used a brush to put on a good thick coat and let the paint do the trick. I imagine I will have to revisit this. Does anyone know a thread for clutch master cylinder install? Do I have to remove pedal assembly for that, or can i take it off assembly and install hoses first and then bolt on?

I do not know how it comes apart... but the top pictiures and pictures of the bolts show you have a serious rust issue.... paint over the top only hides it for a while... you have to fix the cancer within

Rodger, I would have to remove the aluminum floor panels, then, I suppose.

My pedal assemble unbolts from the bottom with 4 bolts. It is then free in the space hanging from cable and hoses. From what I see it appears you only have two bolts holding the pedal assembly, what happened to the other two?

Stephen, they are there! It's a standard assembly. I am supposed to be getting a new one and will swap it out when i replace the clutch master cylinder. Here is a pic of final project.

I see them hiding back there, that’s a good thing.

What was causing the corrosion? Massive water leak from somewhere, or were you fording streams?

You sure cleaned it up a lot. 👍 good job.

Stephen, the original owner did not fix a leaking clutch master cylinder and the fluid eats paint. Add a few rainy days and you get ongoing rust. The car will not be driven much before the cylinder is replaced. And I will just have to keep an eye on whether the rust returns.
