Well it has started, with the All BLacks beating Tonga. I will glued to the TV and will be putting a bet on England to win.
Anyone else watching?

Mum and Dad lived in Ledbury, so many happy times at Kingsholm. Live near Exeter now and have watched the Chiefs for the last 4 seasons, but am in cherry and white when they play Gloucester.

I will I had the joy of being in Malaysia listening to an Ozzie presenter when England beat the Ozzies. On the Monday we had a meeting with lots of the "convict Types" and for some reason it kept coming up. Fingers crossed

I have managed to watch the 2nd (slower) Half of the NZ match and all of the England one which is a Minor Miracle for me early in the morning . As a player in my youth, the size and power of these International guys astounds me (would make great Morgan Engines). It should be a great series.

Just watched the Wales vs Samoa match - very tight match but Wales just managed to sneak home.
Ireland had a great match over Australia. The RWC is really hotting up.
Cheers,
Steve

What a great weekend's rugby. Brilliant by Ireland - they really put the wallabies in their box, and yet again some of the so called lesser teams put on an excellent display. The Georgian pack were dead solid, and if they'd had a kicker capable of punishing England for all the mistakes in the first half we'd have been in real trouble. The canadians gave the french a run for their money for the first hour or so; just as the Japanese did.
My french customers are already making excuses for the battering they will get from the all blacks next weekend, trying to suggest that France will deliberately lose so that they are sure of meeting England in the 1/4 finals. I point out to them that they based on what we've seen so far in this world cup they won't have to try to hard to lose against New Zealand, and that England has not been a happy fixture for them in the knockout stages of the world cup of late.
Oh, and to round of a great weekend, in football Mighty Southampton top of the Championship. Yee ha.

An old college mate of mine who settled in NZ sent this through and I thought I'd better share it : - Edward was at school this morning and the teacher asked all the children what there fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came out, Fireman, Policeman, Salesman, Chippy, Captain of Industry etc. But Edward was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father. 'My father is an exotic dancer in a gay club and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes if the offer is really good, he'll go out with a man, rent a cheap hotel room and let them sleep with him.' The teacher quickly set the other children some work and took little Edward aside to ask him if that was really true. 'No' said Edward, 'He plays rugby for Australia, but I was just too embarrassed to say.'

Last weekend really was a treat as we worked our way thru 4 1/4 finals. We live in Christchurch so have been denied any local games due to our quakes but were on the edge of our seats at home as we watched the finalists fight to stay in the competition. Some of the contenders desparately wanted a win. We saw the best from the French sending the English home. The Welsh beating the Irish. The Australians finally beat the South Africans after a grim battle. New Zealand given a fright by Argentina before breaking thru their strong defenses and scoring trys. 4 really great games of rugby.
We trust NZ can beat Australia this weekend and perhaps go on to play against France in the Final......shouldnt count ones chickens before they hatch eh! New Zealand is gripped by Rugby fever with All Black flags everywhere. A truly fired up experience.
We heard yesterday that our new +4 has been picked up from Malvern and we should see her in NZ prior to Christmas. Regards from the rugby world cup in NZ. John

Interesting to hear your comments John, I find it tough watching England these days because you know the talent is there it just doesn't end up as a cohesive force though. Johno has to live with that one. In contrast watching your boys playing is a joy the way they hold the line combined with the fluidity of of passes is a Masterclass. You always get the feeling that they could turn the wick up a bit if necessary at any time.
Hope your car arrives in good time for your stocking ! Good luck.
