It has been cold so what better time to have the M3W up on blocks.... Heck when I lived in Oklahoma we would say folks had a home that was mobile and a vehicle that was not!

1: Rear wheel is off awaiting a replacement tire. 10k miles using a shifting and the wear bars in the center show!

2: ordered new rear brake shoes from Morgan of New England (great service) and the original still have plenty of pad left. I did take some course sand paper to them to scuff them up as I have left the brake on a few times pantsdown

3: took out all the seating and cleaned up a LOT OF DIRT! Removed the rear panel and cannot see cracks in the tank mounts and the straps are tight. Really SKIMP welding on tank mounts!

4: removed the footwell box that my 5'10" wife does not like.

5: I have seen that some have put insulating padding at the rear. I am assuming that it is on the inside? does it effect the putting of the seats back?

6: adjusted the parking brake as the adjuster is now accessible.

7: replaced the rear red reflectors with running/brake lights. Decided the leave the fog lamp as a fog lamp.

With seats out Dynamat sound deadening on bulkhead & under the seats, some also do the transmission tunnel & side panels. Aluminium tape to seal the gaps between bulkhead & body. It should not affect refitting the seats with one layer. I cannot say if the tape alone will reduce the noise much but will reduce the dust ingress.

Thanks! Yes I can see how all the dirt, grime and water gets in from the inside.

The only effect i noticed was that the bolts needed to be a wee bit longer but will work with the seatback install.

While you are back there messing with the reflectors do yourself a favor and put in the backup lamp instead of that stupid fog lamp. You will have two more rear lamps anyway and with a backup lamp then people will know you are backing or going to backup. It is a nice indicator for people behind you, not to mention that when it is real dark they will let you see what you might be backing into.

When I did mine I cut away the sound deadening where the wooden mounting for top section of the seatback meets the bulkhead. This allows the seatback to remain in it's original position and uses the same bolts.
