Having recently bought a new car and having had to use Direct Line to insure it (DL are the only competitive insurer for Tesla cars), I had a look on the Direct Line website for the premium to insure my +8.

I currently pay over £600 a year with Liverpool Victoria - Direct Line quote £190... but, a tracker needs to be fitted.

It would pay for itself to have one fitted, so I am considering the notion.

Has anyone here fitted one? Are there some better than others? Fitted by a Morgan dealer - or by a specialist?

Thanks

Look at Global Telemetrics, I have several vehicles on this, all can be viewed through their App.

I asked the recommended installer was there any other he would recommend, his reasoning for
sticking with this Company was he found other providers didn't call the Owner in an emergency.

One of my Trackers proved itself when recently my MH was taken away on the back of a Recovery
Vehicle, as soon as he was at the end of the Lane (200 mtrs) I got the call.
£360 fitted
£199 annual fee

I have Scorpion trackers on the Aero and i8: they work and I'd recommend them.

I get calls if I drive through a poor-reception area (well, I get voicemail, because, poor reception).
When I call back I've always spoken to a native Brit (while I'm generally fine with offshore call centres, they're generally not staffed with people who could handle a crisis, which is what you'd have if your car had actually been stolen.)
The system texts if the fob battery is low. Williams brought in a local approved fitter to fit the Aero's system.

Will

DirectLine are known for asking for trackers to be fitted but thats no bad thing.
Don't forget to ensure that whoever they send to fit it has done Tesla's before.

I was using the Tracker on the Aero until an issue with a flat battery occured. The car battery died despite being on a conditioner. It should have triggered an alarm from Tracker as it got low. Nothing came. Then when I sorted out the problem and phoned them they said I needed to pay for a replacement/recommissioning of the unit. I have had a dozen cars with them before so given the range of competition I went elsewhere.

This might help? https://www.trackershop-uk.com/insurance-approved-trackers/s7-trackers.html

Guess you have a late 8. As mentioned Global telemetrics via A J Alarms. Factory and dealer installer. Most insurance companies are starting to insist on trackers on cars over £75k. Under that value shop around. Double check the excess when checking. You may request on amount but figure may change later in process.

Never looked into them but there is one fitted to the Plus 6.

To be honest I can't see anybody ever considering nicking a Morgan - they are too rare making it riskier to dispose of.

There might be one or two cases but I don't even bother locking the Plus 4 - nothing to pinch inside anyway and if they cut the easy up roof its £3K to replace.

I do use a steering lock though.

Might be an advantage though with some insurers but doubt it will outweigh the cost.

Neilda is this for your Mog or the new Tesla as I think you mentioned that tesla in your comment ?

"(DL are the only competitive insurer for Tesla cars)"

I suspect this thread took a left like a few have recently hide

This is for the Morgan, not the Tesla. The Tesla has it's own tracking system.

It's unimportant whether anyone might or might not steal my Morgan from a locked garage blocked in by a Range Rover (highly unlikely), but the fact that the insurance would be over £400 a year cheaper.

Trackershop looks interesting Alistair, thanks.

The premium sounds very low for a 75k plus Morgan? Considering most are written off if in an accident?
I am sure you are correct might be me being wary .
