Gent,
Assuming this is all correct whose to say they won't be assembled by Morgan. From all I've read Morgan now own a company in Seatle that made cars with a wheel missing just some re-education required.

My Morgan, a 1995 4/4, was brought into the US and modified by Cantab Motors with side impact beams and reinforced front and rear bumpers. There is a plate on the door indicating that Cantab was the manufacturer and that the vehicle is subject to several exceptions granted from federal new car requirements. It appears that this was the only way to import a 4 cylinder gasoline engined Morgan to the US in the mid 1990s. I also don't see a problem with the authenticity of a Morgan assembled at the factory minus engine and trans and exported like that. To me its no different than if someone puts a different engine in their 1950s 4/4 or changes the carbs or transmission. I couldn't agree more Linklaw and what about the Plus 8's converted to run on LPG by Bill Fink, are they not regarded as Morgans in the States, I know they are! It seems that some enthusiasts do not want more Morgan trad imports into America as it might affect the price of their current investments, whereas motoring enthusiasts will be more than happy that Morgan have a new opening into that large car market; all imho, of course. But then I'm neither an engineer or a chemist, but I did have a chemistry set when I was young!

...or the Morgan with the Corvette engine. A hypothetical question... If you have an old Morgan and the engine gives up the ghost and you replace the engine, and transmission, with a non factory fit item, does that mean it isn't a Morgan any more?

This has been done a couple or so years ago by ISIS Imports Stateside - very impressive spec. Check the link out maybe. http://www.morgancars-usa.com/isis_corvette.htmlA whole load of grunt - if I had the pennies I'd love one of these.

Peter Morgan must be rolling in his grave On the contrary I think he'd like the fact that this ruse will enable more people to enjoy the cars he loved. He wasn't, I don't think, in anyway precious about the cars' specifications and loved people modifying them.

Not wishing to throw gas or even petrol on this debate, but......... someone has created a website stating that the "Malvern Roadster" is available
The "someone" is Northshore Sportscars who are (or at least were when I bought my Plus 8 new in 2003) the 'official Morgan dealer' and without whom I apparently could not have made the purchase. Therefore I take their website to be in some measure "the voice of Morgan".
Thank you, good to see that someone recognized that as the web site of a reputable Morgan Dealer and not a fabrication. Lance
