Guys,

Is anyone running their M3W with surplex adjustable shock set up on the rear and Ohlins fitted on the front?

Are you sure you mean Suplex and not Spax Mark? There are not many Suplex equipped cars about and most of them came from the factory with 4 Suplex shocks fitted. If it is the Spax adjustables, I think Paul R or R1NGA had Ohlins only on the front for a time, they may be worth contacting.

I definitely mean Surplex - I’ve got a new set for the rear swing-arm but have read on here around issues with initial settings - Morgan moved onto Spax.

My thoughts are that with Ohlins on the front and the properly set up & adjusted Surplex on the rear it’ll be a far better solution regarding both rear ride height and handling without the expense of Ohlins all round

I wonder if they were Suplex sold by the industrial auction house Surplex or just surplus Suplex innocent

My own experience with the Suplex rear shocks was not good. Could not get them to work at all at any preload and damping combination. When I was trying to get them to work I put the standard non-adjustable, worn out Spax shocks back on and found that they worked way better than the Suplex, I then went to the Spax adjustables on the back which worked well and then for other reasons went to Ohlins all round which works very well indeed.

The very early Suplex that were fitted as standard on the first few cars out of the factory may well have been very different.

Hi Mark - just going back to the original question - yes, I run the adjustable SPAX on the rear and Ohlins on the front. Top job they do too :-)
