I have the same problem but solved it with a small rubber domed grommet. . Did the same on my BMW engine fault light that nobody out side of a dealer could extinguish. This was before the MOT rules changed.... nightmare car.sorry meant to copy the blue tape post.

I thought the whole idea was to make you turn off the full beam, by annoying you!

No not really, when I was on the open road in my Sport and alone at night I found it intensely distracting and stuck some black insulating tape over it, if you can't tell whether they are dipped or not it's time to stop driving No such problems with the sensible hard wired Plus 8 dashboards and lighting.

Really useful photo.
My thought was to cut a piece of neutral density filter sheet as used for stage lights to go inside the holder. It would dim all of them unless I cut a strip.
No rush as the days are now slowly getting longer it won’t be a problem now until late October.
