That is excellent news. TBF, the gloom mongering was about what might happen if there were to be a no-deal. A deal was done.

That is excellent news. TBF, the gloom mongering was about what might happen if there were to be a no-deal. A deal was done. Absolutely, and with Blustering Doris the no deal was a very real possibility. These are solid jobs unlike the TVR pipe dreams that are a recurring unrealistic target these days I'm sad to say but the V8 is on the wane, I fell in love with their latest offering on the stand at Goodwood three years ago it was a beast of a thing.

It's obviously good news, and must be a great relief of all the people whose livelihoods depend on Nissan, but as Giles points out the warnings were based around what could happen if we didn't do a deal with the EU. The situation now is still not quite as good as if we were in the Customs Union and/or single market, but is the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances. The important thing to my mind is that we all actually put our money where our mouth is and buy products and services made in the UK to support our home industries wherever possible.

Maybe a Nissan engined Morgan, that would probably be the only way for me to get a Nissan, that Squash thing they make I have recommended to friends that like that sort of thing but I wouldn't want one, for people with zero interest in cars they are perfect. I thought it was a good idea to post a good news story was my idea behind this thread

Before we all rejoice too much, i suspect there are going to be challenging times ahead for Nissan as a result of the deal we have.
All the Japanese car makers rely upon a "just in time" delivery from their suppliers, they keep incredibly low stocks of components at Sunderland. Any shipment at the docks that is delayed due to "paperwork" will impact them quickly and severely. I hope for their sakes that once everybody learns the new systems and procedures quickly and that the delays are minimal so they can continue to operate using their current business model. If not I fear a very bumpy ride until it settles down.
