I saw Steps Ahead at Ronnie Scott’s - it was a long time ago, guessing 20 odd years ago

Ok - so for the love of jazz we are going go invite you all to a concert on February 17th.

We are the Bad Tölz Rotary Club and we thought about what to do for arts during the pandemic.
So one thing we do is sponser a concert with only full time artists who would have to stay at home instead.

So get prepared for Nina Michelle and Band life in concert in lovely Bad Tölz.

Sounds about right. With Mike Mainieri on vibes? If so, it was the same evening.

Yesterday this movie (trailer below) was on TV. What a great Film about the Blue Note Record History, from 2018 with so interesting report and actual interviews, with Herbie Hancock, Lou Donaldson and Wayne Shorter among many others. For me the best Jazz docu since many years.

I could not find the film on you tube in full length but perhaps it is somewhere on a streaming service. Many of the shown records are in my vinyl shelf. I was aware of some of the stories about Bluenote but e.g. I did not know that we would not know Monk’s music at all without Alfred Lion‘s imagination and engagement.
