If we were in the market for a car now we would most likely be looking at an EV but it will be better for the planet if we keep our current car until it is no longer viable to repair or is legislated off the road.
Same here - which is a bit of a shame in some ways as I quite fancy an EV.

Me too. Shame they are expensive to buy and filled with so much power draining tech and gadgets. I tend to keep cars rather than replace regularly so my “footprint” will be reduced plus the EV scene is changing quickly so, like computing, today’s versions will become “old” as they evolve, especially battery technology.

Thought you might find some interesting real world usage of EV`s along with a fair amount of data on national grid percentage variation of carbon neutral power generation across the country. That is very interesting. Thanks for posting. This is along the same lines H2GoPower - I believe this is a Cambridge University spin out. There is a lot of Hydrogen power work going on at present in a number of areas (Electolytic production, HGV, rail and marine power to mention but a few). As I understand it, there is also work going on into using Hydrogen as a storage medium for surplus renewable energy in areas where pumped water and other systems are unviable.

Do the batteries heat up as they are being charged?
If so a new feature of battery driven cars could be a pasty warming compartment.
I'll apply for the patent on that one!! I believe that an option for the Model T Ford, was an under- bonnet oven! Apparently it fitted above the exhaust manifold. (Perfect to warm your pasties) Bud 4/4 - Stanley
