Narrow boats, again !!

Ive been spending an unhealthy amount of time looking at narrow and wide beam boats !! I just bloody love them ! boat
I would could happily thin out my life's detritus and live on one easy peasy but I don think Treacle is as keen. Maybe I should bin her ? A boat would probably give me less grief. ( I hope she doesnt see this ) swmbo

Wide beam would have obvious benefits but you cant get around a lot of the system. Even narrow boats over a certain length ( cant quite remember what it is ) cant get through the whole system.

Here are a couple of stunners.

Anyone else fancy one?

If you want to go cruising its got to be a narrowboat Bonesie. Lengthwise 60 foot is the absolute maximum commensurate with cruising most canals, and mine has even managed the Pennine ring despite less than an inch to spare in three of the locks.

After nearly 10 years of cruising may be selling my Trad. PM if interested.

These look like great things to play with but off limits for me as herself is not a lover of the water or anything that sits on it unless it flies...

Mrs Neptune and I would love one but settle for hiring, couldn’t live on one full time. The bit I love is getting back in the car after spending a week at 4mph, 30mph suddenly feels ridiculously fast.

I quite fancy a little cabin cruiser type things - like a little floating caravan. Big enough to sleep two and had a toilet/shower, but small enough to require little effort, and able to fit down the smallest canal. You can pick them up for £3 to £4K, the just have the mooring fees on top.

My Mrs is fighting me all the way, but I will win. Once I've paid off the Morgan.

We hired one several years ago for a fortnight on the Leeds / Liverpool out of Silsden - I really enjoyed it

About 18 months ago I started to look at buying one as Mrs was on a about a "holiday home" - at least with a narrowboat you can change the view if you wish and not tied to "x" miles radius from "home".
SWMBO was not sold on the idea

Bought a 2019 Morgan Plus 4 instead laugh

Trad Morgans and narrowboats are surely "Brothers (or sisters) from another mother". They go together like fish and chips.
I also have tried to persuade Mrs M but she has a practical head on her and her arguments had the force of Marriage behind them so it remains a dream.

A Taffmog member has a narrowboat. He usually goes off in it for weeks at a time. Usually on canals without too many locks! A couple of years ago when on a Taffmog trip we visited Hatton locks. From memory 21 locks on a steep incline. That would take a lot of time to pass through!
We once stayed at Lion Quay hotel near Llangollen and our room backed onto the towpath of the Llangollen Canal. The hotel had a pull in for about 6 boats for mooring. It looked a nice gentle, relaxed way to tour.
