Howard, read his biography and discover that he was much more than his achievement last year. He was very much "the right stuff" all his life: he put service before self, qualities that are fast fading from society.
You will also note that he owned a M3W: this raises him in my estimation to another level.

Come on guys give Howard a break, he’s simply stating a view outside the mainstream. It doesn’t mean he’s a wife beater or eats his kids.
I can understand why some believe honours given to Capt Tom are justified and others think perhaps OTT.
The latest, I understand, is for a statue of Sir Tom. Perhaps naming one of Boris’ new twenty (or is it 30 or 40) new hospitals would be a more fitting and lasting memorial!

We were being kind to him and giving him the benefit of the doubt and a bucket full of tolerance as per usual It is Howards modus operandi to lob a grenade in and retire for a day or so - this time he chose unwisely as any old soldier is just as likely to pick it up and throw it back in the originators foxhole and Tom would have done just that reading that address of his. Trying to belittle Tom's efforts as he was is not the thing to do at all and it displays a weakness to attention grab.

I am going to disent a bit from the general sentiment. I know little to nothing about the man except that he was old and lapped his garden to raise support for the NHS. No doubt a nice old chap from Gods Own County but to my mind the eulogies ought to be about the great british public whose imagination was stirred and who gave so impressively generously. The Captain was the trigger - its the British response we should applaud. And its something that you see time and again when other countries have catastrophes.
"The UK has helped to raise $1 billion for the coronavirus COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC) through match-funding other donors, which combined with the £548 million of UK aid pledged will help distribute one billion doses of coronavirus vaccines to 92 developing countries this year." Twice as much as the EU! We are a generous people. Well Howard you have yet again proved to be our very own TM Boris and demonstrated how you somehow like him are devoid of the humanity gene - good luck to your wife. Tom was and will always remain a hero as he served his nation proudly and once more served a need for his country with honour when he saw the need, he was a gentleman that almost all of us loved and respected and Covid has immortalised him as a result of his herculean efforts for the NHS. Most of us felt humbled and inspired by his efforts. RIP Tom. Yep, Kinda says it for me.....

Howard you might want to read a bit more before making yourself look like a troll. Ready, fire, aim? I must admit I find it hard to believe you don't know more than that, the news coverage has been the only thing that displaced the pandemic from the front page.
I was not aware of the M3W element, that's a nice thing to learn.
Given he started doing it on a local level with a still slightly ambitious target and then it blew up and he remained quiet and humble I can think of few better role models in a true world.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Capt Sir Tom's comment about his book "Tomorrow will be a good day" when interviewed recently about this book said that it would make a "good Christmas present for someone you don't like". He had a great sense of humour, along with all his other qualities.
