And as for work after 19 years with IBM all you would get is made redundant then outsourced back for less money with no more annual leave in the same role the next working day, it’s a company I loathed and would not inflict working for them on my worst enemy.
That seems to apply to a number of the big IT outfits nowadays John.

Voucher now sent to Jon in Lampeter.
As a aside I'm not the biggest watch fan but do like a 'nice' watch. Always bought Seiko watches since I was about 15, never a problem. I still have one but rarely wear it. I also has a cheat Casio for when I'm working DIY helping out a pay incase it gets damaged. Promised myself a 'brand' as a 60th pressie to myself so bought a TAG and the CW Morgan watch was a lockdown pressie from SWMBO because I couldn't drive the Morgan as much as I wanted to.
I do have an hankering after an Omega Moonwatch but at £4-7000 it will probably remain a dream.

As long as it's not a Timex. Timex was recognised for many years as being an extremely accurate watch brand for the price point. regards

Timex was the working class mans watch and it kept time pretty well, that's all I ever required of a watch, not something to dangle your wealth around and show off with.
Haven't had need of a watch for seven years now since taking early retirement.

I have always preferred collecting Kruger Rands that are locked away out of sight.

I rarely wear watches myself these days, still have a great passion and love for certain brands like Rolex. When I first started wearing them over 40 years ago they had a reputation for being a relatively inexpensive quality mass produced' watch, the sports models generally kept or increased their value over time, so basically cost you nothing to enjoy owning and wearing them and just like Morgans over the decades they have moved up market and become a much more expensive price point.
So some watch brands (just like Morgans) started out being quite utilitarian have moved on to become something else quite different and apart from their humble beginnings. I remember reading a marketing research paper many years ago that identified that most people become brand loyal for life by their mid to late 20's and as a result all manufacturers try to achieve and target that youth brand loyalty as early as possible in their product range. So for many how they became a certain brand loyal may have been for very different reasons and for very different product values many decades ago, to what the same brand represents today. I should also add that when i started to travel extensively on business around the world in days before widely accepted credit and debit cards I always kept Swiss francs in my wallet and a wore a Rolex watch because I knew I could convert them to local cash if I had an unexpected emergency to deal with.
Its always interesting to see other peoples prospective on things, possessions and toys I've been a little surprised besides the admiring glances, the number of comments from friends on why do you need a Morgan, a car renown for its foibles and idiosyncrasies and to some an expression of one's wealth .Isn't a lot of this down to what you enjoy, take pleasure in and from and can afford. To some a more expensive brand watch is a day to day necessity very akin to owning a Morgan, a bit of really nice self indulgence and not necessarily to them being ostentatious.
regards

Mmmm I must confess I have all 4 Christopher Ward Morgan watches they used my Morgan to promote them at the Run For the Hills weekend a few years back. The in house SH21 movement they fit to the mechanical versions with display back is quite wonderful. I have a bit watch thing, I just love to see the craftsmanship that goes in to such a small item , but 30 watches may be a bit over the top. The wife has the bug now so I may have to rain it in a bit . ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2018/06/23/imagee558c28cc2213162.jpg) With the man himself at the Morgan Factory. Chris is wearing the Three Wheeler ,I’m wearing the Aero.
