Well a Google search for the title will probably spring up A****n and E**y links straight off, followed by lots of other book sellers - both on line and High Street.
Mine is coming from the Book Depository, an online seller in Gloucester, who regularly list on both online sites shown above. smile

I object to that comment. There was no belittleing in my comments at all. I was merely trying to suggest that the startling thing about Moore's efforts werent the efforts themselves but the great response of the British public and of which we can be proud. Target £1000 and we gave £30million!! His walks are indeed being copied by a 100 year old British Indian called Choudhury but with less public response - just £100k. And many others including disabled kids have done similar things without catching the public imagination.

As for the military bit, my late F-I- L had a parallel career rising to Major fighting the Japs in the artillery regiments in Burma. Likely they would have know each other as brother officers, both from Yorkshire.

Just seen on the news that his daughter has said he was Trolled on social media, which they sheltered him from, but the family still had to experience

What's happening to the world ? Why can people be so cruel ?

It is a sad reflection of modern society, Social Media has given us all a voice and degree of anonymity a very dangerous cocktail.

I am reminded of a saying we used in the Military before the age of the internet: "Engage Brain Before Opening Mouth." It applies to the written word too.

The public have donated a damn big sum to Capt. Sir Tom’s charity raiser.
The easy bit. Write a cheque, transfer money by bank, text, any other way. Sit on your arse and make the huge effort to pass on money. A bit like “ the widow’s mite”.
Actually get off your arse and DO something? That is what he did. At his age with his physical state he did the hard thing.
How many give their time, expertise to help versus making a donation? There’s a big difference. What does your community need help with and will you join in, however small your actual non monetary contribution is? There are many efforts that start small and grow. They catch the eye of the public. Many stay small but are nonetheless effective.

Our Men's Shed has a communal garden, the proceeds of which, mostly veg, go to foodbanks and the like.
