One the subject of inexpensive tools, I have one these and found it to be very useful. What you can't see in the picture is the threaded hole in the body of each piece, so you can check both bolts and nuts. Amazon sells them in the US here. ![[Linked Image]](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/8123GWwWgwL._AC_SL1500_.jpg)

This tool might be handy on TM, to avoid thread drift. Or placing a topic in the wrong thread.

By far the most comprehensive thread guide I've discovered is the one by Maryland Metrics, unfortunately no longer available directly on line but as a pdf download here. There are one or two rare types missing in the list, British Cycle threads for example and all thread sizes are listed in ascending order with imperial major diameters, but metric sizes are included with actual thread pitch rather than imperial tpi. I've found it invaluable in identifying threads on vintage stuff I occasionally re-furbish.

Well an update on the brake light stem. I took it to a machine shop. The threads were poorly cut and the stem tapered from small to start and wider at the top. So, I got that fixed. Then I go home and drill the hole and get ready to install the male side of the clip that they sent me. Having experienced the quality control of Morgan, I decided to see how the clip attached to the car end. I could not get this thing to mate. I thought I was doing something wrong, then I saw that it was a different clip. So I just cut end off and soldered the wires. I didn't want to do that but I would have to take the clip apart if I ever had to remove the light anyway. It turned out nice but I am extremely disappointed in the quality and lack of response and support from Morgan. I will think long and hard before I ever buy an accessory from them in the future

If you are interested in a totally cool third brake light, check out the Grimes model B aircraft wing light on Univair Aircraft Supply's website. I dug around my old parts box and came up with one, red lens. I will be installing it on a machined aluminum (or aluminium, depending of your location) mount, and using an LED bulb in place of the incandescent one. I believe it fits the Morgan quite rightly.
Best,
tom
