The previous video was probably not the best video to show the daft logic of fitting some metal cans pretending to be exhausts here is a better one.

I love it, it's so funny/

You know, I think Mercedes does that in house....
Why else would there be an 800w amplifier in the boot and a 12" subwoofer bolted to the floor pan.

Not as stuffed as losing a physical key as it happens. Any mobile phone, with your Tesla password, will open the car. Tesla themselves can remotely unlock the car and let you drive it - and, of course, there is a key card.

If you lose a physical key, I would say you are in a more difficult and expensive situation.

But I do understand that this technology is not for everyone. However it is possible to have a foot in both camps - as indeed I do and intend to continue doing so.

The cost of a lost electronic key on some cars can be £1000+
The newer keys on things like the BM 7 series have LCD displays and all sorts of programming so I would hate to think of the BMW prices to sort that lot!

Given the sweet spot on the iPhone range is about £1000 and it does everything for you (almost) it makes a phone seem good value!

If relying on phone to open car & its your "cash" & credit card substitute I stand by my contention if phone is lost you are stuffed. If you lose the car key but have your wallet you can still get home to get your spare, your eggs are not all in one basket. How are you going to contact Tesla to unlock your car if you lost your phone, cannot use a payphone you have no money? McLaren offered a green key with a logo as a £1600 option I think on the Senna. You presumably got a perfectly good key if you did not take the option.

And, of course, all your phone numbers are stored in your phone so if you do get to borrow a phone, who are you going to ring?

I used to have a ton of numbers stored in my head (and can still remember the numbers of my two best mates from primary school). However, after 16 years, still can't remember my Mrs mobile number......

Same with directions, used to travel the length and breadth of the UK on my bike with nothing more than a few scribbled notes taped to my tank - now I rely on Sat Nav so much that part of my brain is defunct.

If your smart phone (Droid and Apple) is in a default state it is fully archived to the iCloud/NSA. Find another handset wipe it and enter your username and password, 95% recovered in five mins. Of course the owner of the other device will now be threatening you but that's a different issue.

As solutions go, that's on a par with "if you lose your conventional car key ... just steal another car!" ..... follow me for other life-advice!
