Afternoon all,

The ground clearence under my gearbox crossmember is around 75mm, I have the wolf scuff plate fitted. I have 195\60R15 tyres fitted at 26PSI.

I am looking at 195\55R15 tyres to replace these, however this would result in a 21mm smaller diameter,

Am I right in thinking this would make the crossmember around 10mm lower than it already is?

Hope all are well.

Hi,
I fitted 205/65/15 Avon ZV7 tyres to my 2014 Plus 4. No issues with clearance, slight increase in ride-height and they look better in the wheel arches. Also slight improvement in ride comfort (at 22 psi) with the higher sidewalls. No discernible change in handling.205/60/15 were standard on my Morgan alloy wheels -- maybe if u have wire wheels they fit skinier tyres as standard. Hope this helps.

Unless you want to compete with the car, I would not recommend 55 profile tyres on a trad Morgan.

Agreed that most modern rubber is going to lower profiles and so some of the best buys are found there , but the smaller side wall will hurt the ride quality and not help the handling.

A lot of Morgan owners go the opposite way and fit higher profile tyres (Like Griffo above) this improves the ride quality and will have only a minor effect on handling.

If you experiment with tyres sizes it is bets to use one of the tyre size calculators in order to asses the effect on speedo readings etc , there are ways to reprogramme the speedo if the difference becomes significant.

The tyres are part of the suspension. The higher wall is better

And end up with 65mm ground clearance. No thanks.

It's proving to be a real struggle to find tyres that I am going to be comfortable with. 195\60 seems to be a odd size in relation to whats available.

I haven't seen a tyre yet in 195\65R15 (or 60\R15) that I think I might get on with, I like to enjoy the car and the power increase since the remap, I have had the michelin primacy 4's on the daily and they seems good, but not sure with the mogs light weight!

Does anyone here use 55's on the road or have we all stayed at 60 or gone to 65 for the extra clearance?
