Not just you! Whenever on holiday in Ireland (staying with part of Mum's family) tin bath in front of an open fire in the evenings... smile

What's all this about reminiscing about wrights coal tar. That would indicate people no longer using it? When did I miss the memo on that one?

AIUI the modern stuff hasn't actually got any coal tar in it, just an artificial fragrance and Tea Tree oil. Still nice though.

And as far as baths (tin) in front of the coal fire goes we (mother) used to buy lengths of Sunlight soap, she would buy a foot length, some was grated into the Dolly Tub on Monday, (bag of blue in with the whites) and then blocks were cut for bath times. It had razor sharp edges that would remove flesh until it had worn to round edges. I wrote a paper for my granddaughters school where most of the 7 year olds didn’t believe the stories of tin baths at first, I told them of winter days baths with a roaring coal fire, mug of cocoa whilst sat in bath as a treat.
