Hello Glen, Welcome to TM and glad to hear you are having fun with your Morgan , I was originally from your part of the world and as a Ford graduate trainee worked at Perrys in Hadleigh for a little while. We lived in Westcliffe on sea and my company car was a Yellow Capri with a black vinyl roof!

Hi Heinz. I believe the colour code is M006 - Sports Green. The car is in very good condition - no dents or scratches and has been maintained by Melvyn’s team from new. The one thing I would like to improve is the engine torque at low revs. I sometime get caught out when overtaking at slow speeds as I don’t change down early enough. It was advertised at Melvyn Rutter’s as BRG ? Looks very nice anyway ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/02/07/F775ED06-4221-407C-A938-4CA740305ECB.jpg)

The one thing I would like to improve is the engine torque at low revs. I sometime get caught out when overtaking at slow speeds as I don’t change down early enough. Might be able to do a flash remap which will do wonders for torque , no doubt all sorts of upgrades available with this engine , its all part of the fun of Mogs ! I agree with madmax. The nice thing about the 2 liter Duratec engine is that it is extremely proven and a lot of modifications have been developed, up to Omex conversions with single throttle bodies and different camshafts. Only, my 2 cents is, I would first drive and learn to love the car as it is now, for a season or two. Maybe you can have your Morgan garage make a test drive after lockdown to see if everything is in order as it should be. I drive the smaller 1.6 liter engine, but with a sport manifold and an ecu upgrade, and I am very happy with the torque down low. I think that your 2 liter engine should actually have exactly in this area of low revs also its strengths. Therefore, first see if the standard configuration is ok before you think about tuning. Maybe it's something simple to fix, a new mass air flow sensor or just a clean new air filter. Have a lot of fun with the great car.

Welcome to TM and Morgan ownership Glen. I'm pretty sure that the car you have was at Melvyn's when I collected mine. IIRC its first owner was the lady that did the upholstery for Melvyn.

Welcome Glen. First of all, I would ask what your daily driver is? If you happen to be used to a turbo diesel for instance, then the Duratech will certainly seem a bit sluggish low down, so you may need to adapt your driving style a bit.
The other point I would make is that although there are plenty of performance tuning options available such as throttle bodies etc my observation of dyno curves published on here and elsewhere, is that they invariably only start to pay their way at 3000 revs and above. So rather than spend the hard earned too early, try driving in this rev band area more and see how it goes. Don’t be confused with recent threads on here about the highly successful flash upgrades and new manifolds on plus 4 s with the newer GDI engines...they needed it! I had a remap done on my 2011 duratech plus 4 some years ago but to be honest, the low down difference is not noticeable but it certainly comes alive at 4 or 5000 revs, but you can’t drive around like that all the time or you start collecting points!

I think part of the problem is if you have the Ford type gear box, some of the ratios are a bit high especially fifth. Only suitable as a overdrive. A lower diff might have been better, especially for the 1800.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.
