One thing that stood out was Andrew Marr being less aggressive in his input and questions. He let a real expert speak without interruption or steering of the interview. It added up to a good information session. Very good balanced programme. Informative.

This morning on the Andrew Marr show he interviewed Professor Gilbert from Astra-Zenica-Oxford. She gave the best overview I have seen. Non political and sticking to virus/vaccine details. She declined to comment on lockdown/return to normal comments as she was solely describing scientific information. They started investigating Covid 19 from when first news from Wuhan was known and ahead of spread. The virus characteristics were described plus how vaccines work. Also the mutations that occur and how the vaccines can deal with them. She described the effects of vaccines covering how good, timings of second jabs, mixing types, longer term effectiveness and future options for regular vaccination as with flu. No bullshit, wild claims, over optimism or negativity. The interview was what is needed and should be widely viewed. The official public info bulletins by politicians and health officials like Witty are markedly lacking in presenting the facts. I think behind closed doors things are clearer but controlled when the info is broadcast. A case of Politics overtaking experts. One thing that stood out was Andrew Marr being less aggressive in his input and questions. He let a real expert speak without interruption or steering of the interview. It added up to a good information session. I’ll watch that then, it’ll be a nice change to see a “journalist” let an interviewee answer a question or not try hard to steer the interview into pointless controversy.

Some may have seen on the BBC news yesterday that Clacton Hospital vaccination centre has been closed due snow. No mention that 200 meters away is a vaccination centre in the old St Helena hospice. Up and running well yesterday pm when the nice army chap jabbed me. I had the Astra Zeneca her in doors had the Pfizer in the same venue last Thursday.
It would seem that the press just like worrying people.

Yes agreed. Here today the grit lorries went off route to grit the access to the GP surgery doing the jabs & some council workmen volunteered to shovel the GP surgery car park. That won't come up on the news I am sure. Fear is much easier to report.

Good on them John. Bet the press wouldn't print it even if you wrote it for them!

I had my first dose of the vaccine this morning. Superbly organised. All the local GP practices had come together and the local indoor tennis centre, is being used. Plenty of volunteers giving directions and organising the car parking. My vaccine was given by one of the local GPs, who was aware of my particular medical history. All very impressive and reassuring. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

My daughter decided to get married one January in the little country church my wife attended down some one track welsh C roads. We dont normally get much snow here at all but of course on this occasion we got a foot or so. Quick phone call to Monmoutshire CC and a plough / gritter did the complete run from out house to the church. In fairness I have to say that Mon CC are a good organisation
