Headley for me. I checked out so checked the main steam insurers such as LV, Admiral etc. They didn't offer me agreed value however. I don't want to get into settlement arguments with loss adjusters!

Trust me when white van man T boned me his insurers were insisting any garage could fix my Roadster. Legal cover with Headley ensured it went to a proper Morgan dealer. I would stick with a specialist insurer.

I know a lot of people on here seem to swear by them but has anybody actually had a claim and what was your experience?

I received prices of around £400 from Heritage and Abbeyfields both of whom use KGM as the insurer which seems to get very good reviews. Peter Best came up with £584 and used LV. I therefore tried LV direct who came up with a price of £250. Interestingly the only claim I have ever had to make was when I wrote off a MX5. This was insured with LV and I had no problems with the claim and the value they offered.

I am not particularly looking for the cheapest option but the most trustworthy. Your comments appreciated.

Sir P

I used to be with Admiral but after a no fault (got T-boned by a drunk) accident in the + 4 they settled despite the offenders insurance company going into liquidation but tried to increase my premium by £300 !!! To £854 for my multicar policy Morgan and Fiesta ST. Went to LV £500 for the two.

Headley for the Morgan and Classicline for the XJS - bizarre situation with both when I tried to put both cars with one insurer - Headley quoted double Classicline for the XJS, and Classicline quoted a lot more than Headley for the Morgan! so much for multi-car cover being cost effective!

Footman James offered me a multicar - I assumed adding my £500 Vauhall Corsa would cost peanuts compared to my £17K Morgan, but they wanted about £300 extra (£100 more than my stand alone policy).

Was with G & W for many years with Mogs & Minis, but noticed a trend in the last few years of a gradual upward price creep, when I flipped the Roadster for a 3.7 I used to opportunity to do a proper set of comparisons and swopped to Headley who gave all the same bells & whistles for over £100 less

I was with G&W until about 3 years ago. I moved to Headley. G&W premiumsd were increasing and no room for reduction. Headley were quite a bit lower.

Many thanks for all your comments, very interesting. I have since contacted Admiral who came up with £700 and Headley who came in at £430.
Prices seem to be all over the place comparing my recent quotes with what others are paying with the same companies. My old Dad used to say never trust insurance companies lad there only there to feather their own nests!

As I said I was not after the cheapest quote but the most trustworthy and on the strength of your comments think I shall go with Headley. Thank you all very much.

An interesting thread! Thank you all for pointing out Headley as a potential alternative.
I am currently with Gott & Wynne, but winced at the hike in premium when I moved house.
I had a repair on Archie after a car park shunt, and I found it hard work to get through the hoops for the Morgan factory to do the work.
After five years it may well be time to try another broker...
