Oh dear !!!! Is Luna Rossa that much quicker than in the round robins? I can't imagine that the Britannia team have completely screwed up their boat speed during their down time by going in the wrong direction with their development. I guess it could be that Jimmy has just figured out what happened during the RRs and put it right, be it tactics, crew coordination, boat handling or boat speed / setup. Whatever it is, Sir Ben has got a fight on his hands now. But let's not forget what happened in 2013. Having said that, Spithill and Ainslie were on the same side then IIRC. Looking more like a 2017 type result at the moment If you think this is bad, don't look at the test match scores !!!!!!!!

Looking at the stats at the end of the races there is not much difference in performance. Ainslie can't get a start right and Spithill just fends him off for the rest of the race.
Ainslie needs to win a start and then we will see what happens...

Using your link Gary, that is the first time I have really looked at those craft, I use the word carefully as they sure ain't boats as I know them they look quite weird to me but I'm sure they are very efficient but they just look soulless unlike a J class. Each to his own as ever

Each to his own as ever They're different alright. I think this is yachtings attempt at 20/20 cricket. Trying to make the sport more for TV and spectator consumption. The purist may not approve but I must confess I find it entertaining. You can catch the action live or in a one hour summary on Foxtel

I am not a purist, but I do know what match racing is all about, or at least what it is supposed to be. Take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGxy5Sxzttc.32nd Americas cup, race 7. Tactics, strategy, boat handling, difficult maneuvers, close racing and suspense to the end. Yes, 12M yachts are slow and sluggish compared to the AC75, but the thrill of that is that every mistake will cost you dearly, and and it is difficult to compensate with just boat speed. Race 3 in the the Prada cup the other day was interesting half way through, then the Italians were so far in front that the result was quite obvious. Race 4 was exiting until they crossed the starting line, and that was it. I do admit that these are fascinating machines and admire the creativity, engineering work and progress, but as for an exiting competition - sorry, I'll pass.

They are beautiful and functioning racing machines, thank you for the link.
